Awnings are nice ---- Campfires are nice

But awnings and campfires might be a problem if they are too close.

This last week my Son and I were camping by a lake in Ea Washington. One of our "neighbors" was enjoying a campfire at night (even though a total burn ban was in effect) and it looked nice. Awning was illuminated by the campfire and made a nice sight.

The next day I noticed that the awning apparently was just a little too close.

Someone forgot to look ahead (or up maybe)

I've never done that but apparently time before last we had the smoke blowing under the awning. Opened it up in the driveway a couple weeks later and it was campfire smoke deje vu!

Sometimes people don't realize heat rises. If you don't understand this just one time pass gas in the shower.

It gets even hotter if you light up in the shower when you do that.

I had a similar issue right after I bought my CruiseLite in 2015. Our group made a campfire about 50' away. I don't even think I had the awning out but on my way home, I noticed what appeared to be a burn hole. Fortunately it was fairly small and was able to be taped to cover it. Now I'm always concerned when anywhere near a fire.

Or maybe not?

Did you see the awning rolled up prior to the campfire incident? The area hanging in the photo is about one foot from the camper wall, not way out at the end of the awning. I suspect the photo has nothing to do with the campfire.
