This happened to my longtime friend on his way back from the Bristol race and he is totally confused as to why. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up to add this to there list of things to check.

Look like it's been torqued in the rotation of travel. It's possible this is caused from the TT brakes being applied with great force.
My TT doesn't have leaf springs, but has rubber torsion suspension. The photo below shows something similar happening to my TT.
Notice how the axle moved in the rotation of travel.
I believe this happened as a result of a sudden, hard braking situation. This is the only explanation I can come up with at this time.
I'm not all that smart. but one thing I try not to do is hit the brakes to hard while going over large bumps or pot holes. I don't know if it would cause this or not but I'm sure it dosn't help.

The pictures shown are after he rotated the axle back 180 degrees. So at one point it looked much worse that this. I would like to think that once the u-bolts are torqued down, you would never have to check them again. I also would think that you should be able to lock the brakes up and drag it down to the rims with out this happening. You aren't required to routinely check the leaf springs on you tow vehicle are you?
I'm just glad evryone was O.K. and that they are getting it fixed ASAP by dealer. Sure seems that it could have been a lot worse.
I thought it looked as if the ubolts did slip around. They looked like they were fairly cheesy as far as what they were cast in. To me it looks like they stripped the threads on one side as they are torqued uneven. Perhaps a case hardened upgrade would be a permanent solution?
