B&W Patriot Slider

Anyone using one? Comments good or bad? All the info I read and YouTube videos look positive. The only negative is it is heavy, not a big deal to me as it will not be coming out.

Curious why you wouldn’t get an auto slider if you are looking at that one?

I tow our Columbus with one, and I love it. It is heavy, but the head comes off easily if you want to remove it. One caution...if you ever slide it, be sure you have your tailgate down. (Don't ask me how I know.)

Would the gate not possibly hit the 5er in a tight turn if down? I have a 5er gate, would that make a difference?

I have a slider now that is getting old and with the new 5er want a heavier rated hitch. Extremely rare to use the slider. With the need for capture plates, maintenance, cost, weight, I'd go with a non-slider 1st.

5er gate would make all the difference. I've only gotten into such a tight spot where I had to slide my hitch once, and the result was not pretty. Had the hitch head been another inch higher, it would have missed the top of the tailgate completely. So, with your cut-out gate top, you would be fine.

I love my B&W hitch...easy to hook up, easy to visually see that jaws are closed and pin is captured and locked. But, if I were buying another one right now, it would be a non-slider. Like I said, I only needed it once, and that should have been a clue that I needed to find a different camp site.

I've got the B&W Patriot (non slider) and love it. We have the version that uses the "puck system" in our Ford F350. Like Capt. Mike said above it is very easy to hook up and visually check the jaws.

I understand. I wonder with the way most 5ers front caps are molded nowadays if a slider is really needed. I have a Superglide auto slide and it obviously works great but I’ve always wondered if I really needed such a hitch...

Yep, like it have being said it is a good hitch I have one and love it, it is heavy but it does come apart in two's I have a cherry picker to take out the bottom piece so no worry. It is a very solid hitch and I have no complaint.

Ordered the slider Patriot from eTrailer yesterday. $779 free shipping by truck. It will be here next week and I'll need help to get it on my rails. Looking forward to it!

We have this one in our Dodge Ram. Very nice and extremely well made, probably why it weighs a ton.
