Battery Box

My 2008 Rockwood 2280 Freedom came standard with a battery box, but there is no wiring running to the box. Do you have to run the wiring yourself or should it have come pre-wired? Seems like a dumb question, but since I don't do much dry camping, I never have used a battery, we always go to campgrounds with hook up...

Should have been a battery and the battery should have been hooked up. If you bought recently from a dealer, I would call and ask about it. If you bought from an individual, I would also call. A dealer might give you one and wire it, an individual will probably not.

if it has electric brakes, you're violating the law by not having a battery.

even if it doesn't have electric brakes, there still should be wires along the tongue.

A smaller size pop-up, without electric brakes, may only have relatively small wires running from the battery box. They may be as small as 12 or 14 gauge (more likely 10 or 12), and if they were never previously used, I'd look to see if they are taped-up somewhere in the frame rail near the box. As long as the positive wire end was taped (insulated) the inside lights, etc. would have worked with the 120v plugged in.
