I use the BatteryMinder on all my tractors, mowers, the RV, etc. On the RV, the 1 AMP unit never gets to full charge to switch into maintenance (desulfate) mode due to the draws you mention. So for now, I just hook up via shore power to keep the batteries charged. I don't want to kill power to the unit for then I have to reset all the clocks (I know poor me) but I also lose the auto hitch height on the Lippert system. In the future, though, plan is to upgrade to the 2/4/8 amp BatteryMinder which will boost charging rate to accommodate those parasitic draws and allow the unit to go into maintenance (desulfate) mode.
Those bigger units cost about $160 compared to the $40 version so waiting for them to go on sale (plus save a couple coins).
