birds nesting in rv spaces

i noticed small birds flying to and from front of fithwheel hitch. discovered a nest where wires feed front spot lights. they filled the void in frame with twigs. nice warm nesting house. took a flex tool with pinchers on end and cleaned out nest. noticed same thing with ac cover. took off cover and a giant nest in fan blade area. glad I saw this it would have locked up ac fan. Keep a look out while camping out . Happened to my pontoon boat above pontoons and floor and tongue of boat trailer.

We had a determined mom bird build on on top of our kitchen slide box. Under the slide cover/awning. Found of course when we pulled it in. Up the ladder I went laid over and picked out what I could reach

Robins love to do that in our area.
I've found several over the years.

In the future it would be best to install a screen or some other deterrent. Almost all birds and their nests are protected by federal law. Avoiding the problem in the future is always best. Keeping them from nesting there will keep you out of trouble. And keep you from killing baby birds or the viable eggs.

Birds

I always had a problem w/ retail building signs, bird nesting around signs. I found some holigraphic shiny metal tape strips at a landscaping supply. I put a couple of pieces at the front edge of my trailer storage and taped to my roof A/C. Has kept them away for over a year. Like a shiny silver ribbon.

Birds nesting in rv spaces

Every year in the spring birds build a nest in my rolled up awning. Even moved to a different spot in the storage area, and they still come back. Had to go over and clean out the awning every couple of days. I wrapped a sparkly (red, white and blue 4th of July streamer in the awning, and this seems to keep them away. This year I plan to do this again, and tie a plastic owl (Walmart usually has in the garden area) to the roof of my Coachmen Freelander MH above the awning. Hope this helps.

They could cause engine issues too!

Upon arriving at our camp site a couple years ago, I noticed a air filter replacement warning light. Since our MH was new, I investigated and found a few sticks poking out from the air intake behind the grill. I removed the intake and air filter housing and they were full of bird nest material. After a full cleaning, I noticed the air filter housing was cracked all along the underside from the high suction force. All was ok after a temporary repair for the return trip after which the housing was replaced. I then added 1/4" galvanized hardware mesh over the intake to a prevent future nesting site.
