Black Tank Flush

A newbie question. How often should this be done? Every time you drain the black tank or less often?

Many thanks!

I flush the black tank every time I dump it. Better safe than sorry.

I do it every time that I dump my tank unless I don't have full hookup. I don't want to make people wait behind me at the dump station.

Not to sound crass but I make them wait.
I paid as much to use the dump station as they did.
The extra 3 minutes it takes for a quick flush isn't a big deal.
But then, I also try not to hit the dump station at prime time on a Sunday morning.

I'm a Newbie so when you flush your tank do you just use water or do you add some kind of cleaner also?

Just use water when you are flushing. If you are not at a dump station, I am not averse to letting the tank flush run for 20-ish min!

When you close it up, however, we add 6-8OZ of a home brew tank treatment that is equal parts SuperClean, PineSol & Calgon Liquid Water Softener, and Water. We have a couple of 2 GAL water bottles with the push close top & I mix up a batch at the start of the season and we are good to go for the rest of the year
