blowing the water lines

I dont really need to do this here in sunny northern cal but I was wondering how exactly do you guys blow out your water lines? do you hook up a compressor? how's that work? what special fittings do you need?

You can buy a fitting at most any RV parts stores that screws into the city water inlet. The fitting has a tire valve stem to which you connect your air line to. Use a clip on air chuck so that you don't have to hold it and make sure to turn down the presure on your compressor regulator to 40psi.

I cut a piece of hose about 2' long that will screw into the city water. I then inserted the male end of a quick connect into the hose and secured with a small water hose clamp. Works great.
