Boondocking in Northeast US

Areas for Boondocking in the SW US are easy to locate but has anyone done any boondocking in the New England area? If so, were do you like to go (I won't tell anyone LOL)?
TIA

There are tons of state and national parks and campgrounds in NE. Some a bit remote if that's your preference.

The vast majority of NY State parks could be considered "boondocking". No hookups, just an open spot in the woods, many times if you know where to go and what sites to pick, lakeside or streamside.

As noted by IDguy, I think you might find Boondockers welcome very helpful.

Maine has many great boondocking locations but if you want an ultimate boondocking experience you need to check out the Allagash Maine Wilderness area.

There are areas to boondock in the Finger Lakes area in Central New York. In some cases, you can get permission from a landowner or farmer. You can also set up inside the New York State Fairgrounds

We spent a lot of time backpacking in the Adirondaks in upstate NY many years ago. You can go just about anywhere on the forest roads and find a spot. We hiked in to this area, then went back years later with our pop up.
