Bought some new toys.
We bought our trailer last year. We had an amazing time with it. Many many weekend trips, trips to Eastern Ohio, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Had an amazing year with our trailer. It is now time to add to our experiences. We love boating, fishing, and just tooling around on the water. It was time to add two fishing kayaks to our arsenal of fun. I bought myself an Old Town PDL 106 fishing kayak. I’m pretty excited. I tried out my friends Old Town and it was pretty awesome. I decided to buy my wife the Brooklyn PK11 fishing kayak.
I was interested in the Brooklyn for myself before deciding on the Old Town. So
I bought my wife the Brooklyn so I could see for myself another brand. They both have instant reverse. They are both 10’ and their weight is more manageable than the 12’ models. I can’t wait to get out to campsites and hit the rivers, lakes and ponds with my wife. It should be epic amounts of fun. I’ll also do a lot of fishing too with my buddy while we are out at campsites. But we will also use our kayaks on the Fox River down the street from our home.
It’s going to be a great year again but even better now than last year.

Brooklyn PK11
Do any of you have pedal Kayaks? If so what do you have? Post pics too.

I’ve had a Hobie PA14 for about 5 years and love it, I’ve supplemented the pedals with an electric motor and added a ton of accessories for stillwater trout fly fishing.

My wife and I bought two old town 106 pdl last week. I’ve researched pedal kayaks for quite some time and in our opinion there is none better.
Given their weight we chose not to bumper mount them on the RV…we like our RV bumper still attached to the RV.

Well that is pretty slick. I do plan on buying some accessories. I thought about buying the electric motor. But I love cycling and this will be a great way to fish and in a way cycle. LOLzzzzz.

Yeah. I’ve been reading up on pedal kayaks since last fall when I tried out my friends Old Town PDL 120. I just received my kayak racks from Amazon a few days ago. I like that they fold down and I can keep them there.

This is my native watercraft slayer propel, heading out of Barnstable Harbor to catch some stripers. I can stand up in it easily on lakes and ponds.
Have had it for years.

I have the Sevylor Quickpack kayak. It folds up to about the size of a backpack and sets up in less than 5 minutes. Very stable to ride or fish as well. Cup holder for a cold drink or bait. The best part is it easily fits in the pass thru as well as in the back of my rav4 or the back seat of the truck.

Damn. That is way cool. I should probably buy a couple of those for our trips out West. Those would be awesome for some hiking and kayaking!!

Bought some new toys.
A word of advise, if/when you have to service the prop on the water make darn sure the blades are oriented in the horizontal position. If not, the shear pin which locks the prop to the shaft has a very high probability of being express shipped to the bottom of the lake or river. Also buy a prop kit it has all the spare parts needed for this.
Have fun they’re great kayaks!

CORRECTION- The blades need to be oriented in the VERTICAL position.

I have the same one, I love it! It's great to hike out somewhere and put it in a lake. Yup super easy to set up and break down! And it fits in my storage box.

Good info, thanks. We have 4 weeks to make a decision on a rack system for our truck. I'm torn between the racks style you've chosen vs a saddle style.
I see you have the racks mounted with the adjustable/hinged part outwards and the bent/angled part inwards, any reason for this? Do you find it keeps them kayaks separated better?

Yes. I flipped the racks around to flip outward so I could just lay the kayaks flat side by side. It gave each kayak bit of a cradle to sit in. Worked out well. I thought about buying a Thule or Yakima cross bars. I did not want to spend that type of money though. I’ll just use these racks as I have them plus they are low enough where I can still go through my favorite car wash. So far it’s win win.
