Angry Brand New Surveyor 267rbss

We purchased a brand new trailer and picked it up at the dealer. We went on one trip and discovered at lease 12 things that need to be repaired.
Now we have to bring it to the warranty dealer and try to get them fixed if Forest River will cover them.
Is anyone else having issues with buying a new Forest River produce?

People have issues with new R/Vs every day.
This forum is full of posts with things that are not right.

You didn't list the things wrong but 12 items seems like a lot of things to go wrong on a first trip.

Were these things also an issue during your PDI/CUSTOMER ORIENTATION?

If so they should have been documented then.
Did you do a shakedown camping trip near your dealer to find any of these potential issues?

Have you been in contact with your dealer?

Let us know what issues you have. Things like adjustments and fit/finish can often be resolved yourself easier than returning to the dealer if you are at all handy enough to do those kinds of things.

We are complete newbies when it comes to a TT. We really didn't know what to look for. We have tried to contact the dealer and speak to the owner but they are 4 hrs away so it's like we can just pop in unfortunately.
We called the Manufacturer rep and they gave us some places to bring it and get repairs.
The biggest problem we have is the sink and counter were never sealed so water has been dripping down into the cabinet. We also discovered the window is leaking right by the counter.
We couldn't open and close the door without wailing on it. The door jam eventually fell off.
There are a few other things that need to be looked at.
The dealer we used was RV Value Mart in Manheim, PA. I wouldn't wish this dealership to my worse enemy. Customer service is NON existent at the place.
It's a joke really. The only reason we went with them was because of price but we would gladly trade the savings for customer service at this point.
We did the orientation(15 mins) of being rushed through the RV. Since we were newbies we didn't really know what to ask. The guy says he doesn't really know about this model cause they don't sell them at that location.
When we were ready to leave the guy who helped install and hookup our sway bar (had to get to lunch) so that 5 mins. I tried to hook it up myself and couldn't so he said just kick it. Then as we were leaving he says that you tube is your friend.
We were completely unprepared but they didn't care cause they sold the unit and they were onto the next.
Our sales guy didn't even come out to see how we were doing.
Not a good experience.

Well that's a shame but some of that onus is on you. Anytime you buy anything of that dollar value and don't do your due diligence, you simply can't rely on R/V dealers to do it for you.

Posts like yours are all too common in the R/V industry. We all hope it wasn't that way but an hour on ANY R/V forum will show you it is.

I often say, for those who cannot fix things themselves, finding the right R/V dealer is as important as the right R/V itself or getting the best deal monetarily.

We have also found on this forum, that if you contact the manufacturer and work with them in a professional manner, they will step up to the plate and help you get your issues resolved. They have for me for the few things we needed.

You said they recommended a few other dealers so check them out. Don't be surprised if you are at the bottom of their waiting list though. Dealers that didn't sell the rig do not have to work on them. This isn't like the automotive industry where any dealer will do warranty work on the brands they sell. R/V manufacturers let the dealers be independent retailers and there are no rules so to speak.

Best of luck getting your issues resolved and if you have questions, fire away. While this forum is in no way affiliated with Forest River, it is full of very knowledgeable folks trying to help fellow R/Vers. With that said, every now and then, (and even though they are not required to) there are a few factory folks that will jump on board here and extend a helping hand.

Keep us posted to your progress.

I bought my surveyor at Stoltzfus R V in Adamstown, Pa. They are very good to deal with. If it is not to far for you, I would give them a try, good customer service.

We purchased our new FR267 in Tennessee. When we got to our home on Eugene, Oregon we have several repair warranty items. We took it to Sutton RV in Eugene and they willingly addressed all items. This is a great RV dealer.
