Broke the seal

well we broke the seal on campinh in 2010!!!

it was our first trip since november. which was entirely too long to wait to go out camping.. and the first trip since i found this forum. so since i promised to take more pictures on this trip so i could show off my local lake.

the site was a little difficult (because of a tree) to get into but we did it

here is a shot from our front door..

one from the lake looking up at our site

i even took some night pictures

wow i forgot how much i liked camping.. we really had a fun time

p.s. why can we only put 4 photos in a post?

Looks great Bente, I'm so ready to go again. Have 10 days planned at our favorite lake and the start of bass fishin' season for us. Will be the first trip of the year to be able to get the boat out on the lake and open it up. Looking forward to a fresh fish fry with cole slaw and hush puppies. Yum...

Hey BENTE, great pictures and thanks for sharing them. It looks like a little piece of heaven you have in front of your camper. It's warming up here and I can't wait to get out for a couple days or so.

In a sad turn of events we went from 63 degrees for the high temp this weekend to snow. Yep it's snowing at our place now. Dang it!

thats a great looking campsite.
where is it located? Looks like a great place to visit, complete with great water front
we camped at the dealers campground now twice this year waiting on a warranty repair
it was almost like camping never is....lots of traffic, no view, lots of empty rvs to look at

getting buggy our selves and plannign a run to texoma for a free weekend

it was on Lake Hartwell at Watsadler and according to the first link it is one of the top 100 campgrounds in the us..

camping at the dealer must really suck. at least it sounds like it to me. i would like to spend some time at dealers looking at diffrent rigs but after awhile i am sure i would not like looking at stuff i can't afford..

Great pic, but I am still stuck in the driveway because of the snow. The temps here have been in the 50's and the snow is disappearing, our time is coming. I lived in Charleston for three years when I was 10 and loved it, we meaning my friends and I would sleep out under the stars....Come on Spring, your pic make me what to go NOW I am tired of waiting..... By the way, you can post up to 5 pic per thread. If you want to post more you have to "post reply again" to start another thread.

That is an awesome site Bente! Glad you could get out. I am still trying to get out for my first trip of the year. Not because of weather necessarily (I live in the Houston area), but because I've been busy for so many weekends. This weekend also, but looks like next weekend we'll get to "break the seal" on the first camping trip of the year, the first trip in the new 5er, and the first pull with the new truck! Woo Hoo! Can't wait.

Yeah, we actually had a record breaking 3 different snow events. None of 'em enough to write home about, but indeed unusual. And almost a week of below freezing temps. Mr. Gore...there's your global warming!

I plan on breaking the seal next week, depending on the weather. I know we have a lot of cold weather ahead, but I plan to run a little heat on the cold nites so I don't have to rewinterize. I am just anxious to get out there.......and I still have snow piles around the house.

Beautiful site, I absolutely love your canopy lighting, i also use these large decorative light's, but mine are multi colored. One of my trips with a couple of fellow camping buddies & their rigs was interesting to say the least. we had 3 sites in a row & the one buddies wife hated my Canopy Lighting (Christmas Lights as she called them) so much she made the hubby move their site another part of the camp ground. she spent a lot of alone time that weekend on her site.

Here are a few of our maiden voyage of 2010, the new 5er, and the new truck! We got a full gamut of testing done. Truck pulls great, the camper stands up well to AC, Heat, rain, and wind. Only issue so far is no city water...the water only runs on pump. I am still troubleshooting that, but fairly minor so far.

This is Heartland RV Park in Riverside, TX. A nice little campground, great for rally's (very popular for that), but a little noisy due to it's close proximity to a fairly busy 4 lane highway.

chevy02: yea that place is about 40 min away from the house. we have been there ever since the rest of the campgrounds around me closed for the season. that one is open all year long.. we have been there several times. we have 7 campgrounds on our lake that will accept campers. the other two are primitave camping only. we love that we are lucky enough to have so many choices so close to home.

Shooster: we actually were given those lights. we went camping in november and got to talking to the guy in the site next to ours. turns out he and his wife live almost as close as their site was.. well i asked him about his lights because we had not invested in a good set yet (i am a camping newbie).. well on christmas eve we went to my wife's mom's house and when we got back those lights were leaning against the garage door. we had no idea who gave them to us for about a month. well it turned out the guy who was next to us at the site that day figured out where we live and dropped them off..

Edjunior: man that is one nice rig. two slides and mag wheels must turn a few heads when you pull in.one question is your awning supposed to be that low? looks to mw like the door may hit it. but it may just be the picture.. plus i notice you camped next to a fellow forrest river camper..i wish my camper had a ladder

Thanks..and now that I think about it, I probably should have started my own thread instead of hijacking BENTE's...sorry about that.

The awning is adjustable I found out. I wondered, and had seen questions from others about the electric awnings. You can adjust each side by pushing the arms in, and tighening the knob. Really makes for some great shade in the setting sun (and helps the rain drain much better!). And the door does not hit it surprisingly enough. And yeah, actually I had a FR on both sides...actually another Wildcat on the one side. And did you notice the F-250 in there also...just like mine except he had the Cabela's trim...very very nice!

A friend and I camped at Philpott Lake last week. We happened to be the only 1s in the entire campground.

This the view from our campsite:

When I got home from that trip, the missus needed to take a day off for a little R&R, and we headed to James River State Park for a 1 niter.
