The CG owner had to obtain a special permit from ODNR
Either a real dead one or an effigy hung in a tree is the recommended deterrant
They are definitely NOT crows or ravens ....we have been within 3-4 feet of them at times ....they show no fear - just look at you from on top of your camper daring us to get them
They are protected...

Yes, they are also eating the rubber seals of boats and boat trailers and trucks parked at lake launching ramps. It's usually the juveniles.
Y'all can gang up on me all you want, but before I'm allowing some nasty bird to cause $26,000 in my stuff, he's gonna be gone.

Problem is you'd be risking your ability to keep camping. The vultures by me are protected as their protected asses eat people's windshield wipers and rubber seals. Where I photograph bald eagles by my home I watch the vultures tare stuff up all the time. They have warning signs up all over the dam.

Well......I don't mean this in any bad way at all....just an observation. But I don't live in Pennsylvania. My risk would be pretty low. This is an ongoing thing here, and........well.....folks handle it.

Not taken in a bad way at all.. I'd also be ticked if it was me. They are federally protected, so it would not be a PA only thing.. But not being a bird person these variety of vulture may only be on this area of MD / PA.

Pa here, haven’t had Damage only a poop incident from harmless birds to this point. And only at storage area. So I bought an owl on amazon, and put it on ladder at storage.

If you are going to purchase a decoy for the TT vultures fall prey to great horned owls, red-tailed hawks, golden eagles and bald eagles. Need to be specific with your decoy. I personally like the hanging "decoy".

Have you considered rhino coating they do it here in California and I know some one who did it and is very pleased with the results. I think it was also cheaper and was garanteed for life. Comes in multiple colors.

I’m not sure what I would do and/or how I would stay of jail, but it would be me or the vultures. Nuisance animals are what it says and they would have to leave or me.

In a couple places in this fine country, where depredation occurs from natures critters, they have a saying. "Shoot, Shovel, Shut Up."
Sadly laws to protect "critters" are applied across the board with no consideration whatever to the damage they can cause when their numbers grow without control.
Come out West and look what happens with Sea Lions and how they decimate Salmon runs on rivers like the Columbia. Sea Lions are protected and we're spending gazillions of taxpayer dollars to restore Salmon runs.
What's wrong with this picture?

I am sure at least one of the government “nature restores” programs has been at least moderately successful. I just don’t know where or when it was or which one it was.

But look at all the studies that these programs have produced.
Recall a discussion I had with an older Alaskan that made his living in the fur industry. We started talking about protection of various species.
He related how it was working in Alaska. For a while Wolves were being protected until their numbers grew so greatly they started decimating Moose and Caribou populations. T
They started "controlling" the Wolf population and then the Moose and Caribou herds grew so large they started to starve in large numbers.
Then they had to start controlling the Moose and Caribou populations.
Left alone, Nature seemed to be doing a great job.

Mmhmmm. Man my not like the vision of survival of the fittest, but it is nature. I think there is one program the government has been successful with(actually game and fish) is turkey population in Arkansas. They spent boocoo money on it, but there are turkeys...as I have seen them. Lol. Who knows what else it monkeyed up though.
