Calling all lpg experts...

So I use an external tank with my Mirada 35LS mh when my onboard tank gets below a quarter tank...

My external tank is a 30 gallon upright... my hose runs from the tank to a tee which is between the installed tank and the regulator...

Works fine...

But, when I disconnect to get on the road I get a amber oily fluid that smells very strongly like propane...

What color is liquid propane?
Is it oily?

Liquid at the liquid end of the regulator is a bad thing...

What could be causing this?

Propane naturally has a small quantity of water in it. If you get more than a 1/4 teaspoon out then you have a problem. I used to have a 1000 gallon tank and I would hardly notice it.

I think you should get the LP gas man look at it.
