Campground Walks

We are currently at the South Marcum campground at Rend Lake. We’re here for the Art and Wine festival on Saturday and Sunday. I love COE parks that offer some full hookup sites. I think I like the senior discount even better.

I also like taking early morning walks for the exercise and the fact that I never know what I will see. This morning it was Whitetail deer, here’s a pic.

Dw and I love campground walks, bike rides, and since we are both runners, runs. Love to look at the different RVs and where everyone is from. Both of us will agree that early morning or eve. walks to take in the surroundings, especially if they include local critters, are the best.

Art mandatory?? If it were, I doubt I would be going. I did discover that with the right amount of wine, the art looks much better.

We stopped at Rend Lake back in June on our way back to KC from Georgia. Loved the park and it is on the list of "to return to".

I went on another early morning walk today. I came upon a whitetail doe and two of her offspring just off to the side of the walking/biking trail. I was so focused on getting close enough to them for a picture that I almost walked right on top of this guy. That was a YIKES moment. He was totally unconcerned with my presence.

Once in the city of an evening I saw the darndest thing. A very young skunk and a young cat were playing. One would hide in the bushes and the other would "find" and chase it. Then they would switch who was hiding. They did this about 5 times. So cute!

There certainly hasn't been a shortage of wildlife sightings on my morning walks. Today I spotted wild turkey.
