Camping at home
Just curious how many of you camp at home/in the driveway. We do once or twice a year. It cures hitch itch "when we can't take a full trip for awhile"

We don't have A/C in our house. So on the few hot evenings up here, we sleep in our TT.

And here I thought we were the only ones that did that!! We turn on the AC and go there to cool off and sometimes cook there to keep the heat out of the house

I know a gentleman who, every morning, goes out to his 5er and cooks breakfast for himself and his wife. He says he just enjoys doing that and calls it "keeping an eye on things". He keeps it in a totally enclosed (except for bat wing doors) RV barn just outside their back door.
It's an Open Range model and he offered me a tour of it once.....beautifully maintained though it's probably six or seven years old.....1.5 baths with bunkhouse for the grand young'uns.

I camp out at home at least twice a month during spring, summer and fall. I find it relaxing and if anyone wants to join me, they know where I'll be...

This is what we have planned, lots of power outages here so just crank up the gen and cool away.

I wish! We can only park on the road and not extend all of the slides because of that. No camping at home for us.

It's nice to know we have a place that provides creature comforts if we lose our electricity, and it's cold outside.

I have Directv with no local channels. Instead of hooking up an outside antenna , if I want to watch football or local TV, I usually just go out to the trailer to do this.
Have been known to doze off in the recliner, and stay the most of the night out there..........so end up camping without it being planned.

LOL! I can envision that!
DH and I are both sufferin hitch itch something awful! I spent time in 'er today hanging some Native American art. (I have strong Cherokee heritage...so don't *make* me get out my war paint!) That just made the hitch itch worse.
We're thinkin *maybe* next weekend where we did our shakedown on the V-Lite, *IF* the weather holds up. Can't believe this weather...beautiful days and then nights in the 20s.
IF'n ya wanna join us wmtire, step out your shop door and yell!

We picked up our new 282RK the day before the first big snow storm hit on December 1st. So we're going crazy waiting to take it out. We've had a few lunches and dinners in it but haven't slept yet. The only reason we haven't slept in it yet is because we both usually have to make a trip to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Because it is winterized, we can't use the toilet. The thought of walking to the house in PJs just to use the bathroom and then walking back in 15 degree temps does not sound like a lot of fun.

I'm one of the lucky ones who get to keep the camper in the driveway, and we driveway camp as well. But if I disappear its because with 5 kids in the house, Dad is in the camper having a "personal vacation"! Lol. Oh, and I like the term 'hitch itch' as well!

I repaired a wall in our house on a given weekend, the orange peel stunk the house so bad.....DW loaded the MH (Parked on the side of the house) and said.....we're camping this weekend.......we stayed in MH for 3 nights until the smell cleared. the kids loved it so now every once in a while we b camping @ Home. it's totally cool!

gthomp10, you could use the toilet if you bring a little water in with you to flush with. Add some anti-freeze to the black tank, no harm, even if you use green auto type, the tank will have to be flushed at the first campground you visit. All based on how badly you'd like to use your rig of course.
