Camping World?

Hubby wants to take a ride to Camping World tomorrow to stock up on the necessities. (Not sure why I feel this is a loaded question LOL) but thoughts and opinions? Camper coming home the 21st.

There are cheaper sources most of the time. Amazon is nearly always cheaper if you shop the item...and some instances no tax.

If it’s on sale 30% off or so then it should be competitive. That being said....I like to shop at a larger camping world. They have lots to see and many choices. Be sure and look at the clearance items. Have bought stuff for 10% of original cost. Just gotta need it.

Enjoy your trip and new camper.

Umm no shop around! I personally don't like CW, better deals can be found even after CW puts them "on sale". Amazon carries everything CW has with better shipping.

Camping World is a great place for one stop RV supply shopping!

I'm assuming y'all are just beginning the RV adventure. I would just get a few necessities at first, then after your first outing you will know more what you really need. And some items you will find cheaper online, once you know what you really want.

There is also another good thread in this forum about what beginners should start out with. Just use search.

Just don't do like some folks we know (my Dad) that went to CW when they got their first trailer. They went crazy in the store and bought over $1k of stuff. They never used most of it. Good luck and happy camping!

Go to the large CW and look around at what they have. Then go home and buy it on Amazon and Walmart.

Fun to walk around and get ideas. It is one stop shop, although like previously posted, most things you can get cheaper if you shop around. Convenience has it's price also.

I go where angels fear to tread.

World is getting too weird for me, anyway.

But...........go buy whatever you want. I consider this to be sort of an unanswerable question anyway.

Just got back from there after a shopping trip this afternoon.

As other''s have said, much of what they have is available on Amazon for less.

Sometimes wandering through the store you'll run across items that catch your eye. When that happens I just whip out my phone and check Amazon.

Sale and clearance items are often decent too. Bought a Generator/Inverter from them that surprisingly enough was the lowest price around for that model.

Only really bad part of shopping there in person is that you might fall victim to impulse purchases and that can get expensive real quick.

I enjoy going to look and seeing all of the things I didn’t know I needed!

I’ll check prices against Amazon in the rare event we buy.

But for the most part- they’re “needs” that aren’t.

Nice place to shop and look at things you hadn't thought of. If you join you get a 10% discount on merchandise and a discount at many campgrounds.

Not always cheaper elsewhere. We took our list last weekend and went to CW around us.

Flag pole, new gps, few other things were less there than they were on amazon etc. so brought them home.

Also nice to actually be able to see how comfortable things like new chairs are by sitting in them.

Usually see things you didn’t even know you needed too 🤣

Kinda feel like you do....World is getting too weird lately.
We've decided to ditch the campground thing and are working on a deal for 20 acres of land that has power, water and electrical on it already. Out in the boonies, but close enough to town if needed something.

I didn't really care for them much. Most every time we went in someone pounced on you at the door wanting you to sign up for a timeshare. Almost all of the employees were just stockers and didn't know the difference between toilet paper and a tow bar.
Usually a very limited selection of actual RV parts but a ton of nick nack crap.

Better selection and almost always better pricing on Amazon or a local dealer who has a nice showroom and intelligent experienced people.

I enjoy going to Camping World because of the large selection of RV parts and RV related products. One of the benefits of the store versus online is being able to be touchy/feely with items. I can hold that new gas grill in my hands to see how much it weighs or how bulky it is. I can fold up that collapsible bicycle and see how easy it is to handle, etc.

One other advantage is instant gratification. I physically see and feel it, I buy it, I carry it out of the store with me, and I can use it immediately. Buying online means waiting at least one day for delivery and then the item might be too heavy, too big, or too small, etc.

I do agree that Walmart is a great place to buy RV products but their instore selection is very limited. Going to a Camping World is like being a kid and going to a candy store.

BTW, I've never experienced a timeshare sales pitch.

CW is our, got to have it - now, store. When I can't wait for shipping I will go to the store because they likely have it. If I can wait for shipping I will price shop and buy from who ever has the lowest price most often it has been Tweetys, PPL or eTrailer, sometimes Amazon.

To answer the OP's question, I would do as others stated, go camping, (maybe in front of your house) and come up with a list of what you need. If you go to CW you will most likely come back with stuff you don't need any may never use. But if you do go and buy stuff you don't need just list it here in the classifieds.
