Can't open rv door !!

We had to replace our whole door as when we pried the lock off it damaged the door and our extended warranty would not cover it and neither would Forest River. We now own a Winnebago and I believe Forest River is still using that defective lock from Trimark, UNBELIEVABLE!

I have read your post on another site somewhere. Yes, If you don't drill out your lock, about the only way to remove it is to bend up the door frame due to the 2 "T" tabs that are part of the lock and latch plate. Taking the door off the hinges doesn't even work! Guess it keep the bad people from quickly entering your RV with a crowbar.
As far as the new part I purchased from Amazon made by TriMark. It is different. The metal is steel and not a cast metal. So I'm hoping it is stronger. Only time will tell for me. I have seen other posts say that even the newer version broke, so I'm only hoping for the best. I'll be sure to post here if the new replacement breaks.
NOTE: My Forester is a 2007 class C and the lock broke in 2020. So 13 years of door slamming is quite a while for any mechanical device to last that takes this type of punishment. Still, I think TriMark should have a recall and replace all of these locks for anyone who requests one for FREE!!! Someday someone will die due to this lock breaking and locking people in an RV during a fire or accident. If I had a class A with this lock I would be very concerned.

Yes I agree they should replace this lock before someone dies. Amazon keeps sending me questions from buyers who want this lock and I keep telling them not to buy it but I believe it is the only lock to work with this door. Forest River should take SOME responsibility for this. We had to cover the cost of a new door and lock because they would not stand behind their defective product. I still live in fear of being locked in an RV even though we have a rig with a different lock!
