Castle Rock Tires, Anyone ever hear of these??

So after reading on here about the "China Bomb" tires, I decided to ask the salesman I have been talking to about the tires on the Vibe we are looking to order. He said they are Castle Rock ST 225/75 R15's. Anyone have any experience with these? I'm wondering if I will want to replace the tires as soon as I take possession of it.

I too am picking up a new trailer next Tuesday these tires are on mine also I am going to replace them with either maxies or Goodyear marathon I had the marathons on a 2004 travel supreme fifth wheel and did not have any problems can't wait to pick up the new 3029 Windjammer I called Forest River and they said they try to buy the best China tires that has the best quality

Congrats on the new trailer!! We just ordered ours today, so it will be 6-8 weeks, but I guess its good that we cant use it right now anyway.

Our new Flagstaff came with Castle Rocks. We took delivery in October. I started a thread about them then. They look to be the typical inexpensive import tire.

5Picker, How are they holding up? Does the TPMS give you any piece of mind?

We put about 1000 miles on them before having to park for the winter so no real data.
I don't like how the contact patch of the tread looks.
Aired up to max pressures it almost appears they look half flat and curved up in the center but in defense, they handled and rode very well.
The TPMS is worth every penny especially when dealing with the unknowns from the tires.

I personally would NEVER accept another RV with any Chinese tires. Been down this road and paid out many $ for repair of damage caused by exploding tires, They were all Chinese and all low mileage [TowMax, Trail Express and Akuret]. Just MY personal experience.
Right now I am riding on LRE Maxxis, but haven't put enough miles on them to evaluate them. I'm at approximately 2,600 miles and no problems. I went from LRCs to LREs.

Thailand according to the DOT stamp on the sidewall. I'm told they also have a plant in Taiwan, but can't confirm it.
There is a major tire plant in Shandong, China that MANY manufacturers buy their tires. The only way to know for sure is to check the DOT code on the sidewall.

IMHO, no they were not successful, not even close. They bought the cheapest rubber they could find and installed the lowest load range they could legally get by with. It is all about the bottom line and it won't change until that bottom line is affected OR the NHTSA stops them. It's all about the numbers.

Congratulations on joining the windjammer family. We have a 3029 and really like it. We changed out the tires before our first long trip. We also upgraded the load rating too. We sold the original tires to a friend with a lighter trailer that keeps it on a site all summer.

My FR 5th wheel was equipped with "Tail America" tires. 1 Blow out and two tread separations with only about 3000 miles and I would say not the best tires available.

To confirm the pride they have in the tires they installed for my trailer I received not one reply to numerous phone calls and an equal number of emails. I certainly did not feel supported from their customer service department. (Trust and faith is a tough thing to earn back when is lost.)

I replaced mine with Cooper ST rated tires at my expense as was part of the repair costs for the damage done. This tire topic is a very touchy subject still, so I'll stop now.

Congrats on the new rig and simply yes for your peace of mind I'd go with a know replacement tire from a company that is know to stand behind their products. Maxxis, Marathon and Cooper are but a few to choose from.

FR specs the tires that the dealers want. Most dealers do not want expensive tires. This was from the FR rep at Goshen. I upgraded to Goodyear Marathons and have been pleased so far, still, it is clearly stamped on the side wall "made in the PRC "Made in the people's republic of China

Bravo! Some RVers refuse to accept the fact that their tires are not made in the USA.

Our 2013 FR34RLE came through w/ TowMax tires. We got 27,000 actual miles
on these tires with no problems. Why don't more owners replace air w/ nitrogen. Liked the results so much we had nitrogen put in our new tv tires, and in the new 5er tires. Meineke does it for free. Tires run so much cooler.
