Champion 3400 dual fuel no shut off

I would have not bought these generators if known there is no switch to turn them off. This is a joke right?

I presume if you switch to propane with no propane connected or propane tank turned off it would run until the carburetor bowl is empty of gas.

I wouldn't have thought that, but by doing it this way, there is almost no way you can leak out all of your propane while the gen is "OFF"...

Probably a pretty smart feature!

Stopping the Engine
1. Turn off and unplug all electrical loads. Never start
or stop the generator with electrical devices plugged
in or turned on.
2. Let the generator run at no-load for several minutes
to stabilize internal temperatures of the engine and
generator.
3. Turn the Fuel Valve to the “OFF” position if
operating by gas. (When the fuel selector switch is in the 3 o’clock
position, the gas fuel valve is OPEN. To CLOSE the
gas fuel valve, turn the selector switch to the 12
o’clock position.)

4. Turn the LPG cylinder knob to the “CLOSE” or off
position if operating by LPG.
5. Let the engine run until fuel starvation has stopped
the engine. This usually takes a few minutes.
6. Press the ignition switch to the “OFF” position.
7. Turn battery switch to the “Off” Position.
Important: Always ensure that the fuel valve and the
ignition switch are in the “OFF” position when the
engine is not in use.

The "Fuel Selector" can't be moved if the LPG regulator is plugged in.

Make it simple. Just use the On/Off switch and don't obsess over running the carb dry. Use good fuel, maybe add some Stabil if that's your preference, and just use the generator regularly.

And if the LP gas regulator is plugged in, you can't be running on gasoline--that fuel line is shut off.
