We highly recommend James Island County Park, where we hold a FROG Rally every year at the Holiday Festival of Lights, or Oak Plantation, southwest of the city on US17/Savannah Highway.

Yes, we lived lived in Oak Plantation for 8 months while our new house was under construction. A great location for getting around. Good restaurants nearby. It's not inexpensive but its worth it! I've had better Wi-Fi, but cable is good.
Another nice park is Pallmetto Shores near Santee on Lake Marion. Reasonable pricing for both short and long stays

This year's "Southern Nights, "Southern Lights" FROG Rally will be December 10-15, during the Holiday Festival of Lights. We'll have five nights of full-hookup camping at JICP, right in the middle of the Festival of Lights; two dinners; five breakfasts; plantation tour; carriage tour of downtown Charleston; tour of Patriots' Point, the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown, National Medal of Honor Museum and more; cruise to Fort Sumter; and more.
Details are on the FROG website, www.forestriverfrog.com, under the "EVENTS" tab. I think there are about three or four sites left.
