City water line setup
Looking for some input on waterline setup.
I have:
90 degree elbow
In line filter
2 way splitter
6 inch coil wrapped piece hose
12 foot water hose
Pressure regulator
I'm trying to figure out the sequence from the spigot to the camper. I'm going to put the 90 degree elbow right at the camper to avoid the weight of the hose at the connection but other than that I can't figure out the best order.
Thoughts,

I typically dry camp but when I'm using a campground I tend to put the filter and anything that has weight at the spigot. Nothing but the hose attached to the camper.
Not sure it matters too much.

Order should be: spicket > pressure regulator > 2 way splitter > 6" coil hose > in line filter > 12' water hose > 90 ell.
If you want to place the 2 way splitter after the in line filter, it will keep sand out of the secondary water use.

That's what I was thinking. Is there really much difference between the plastic set pressure regulators and the steel ones with the gauge built in?

I was gifted a plastic type regulator by a good friend when I first got the camper two years ago. It is all I have used. I have not had any problems but can't say if there would have been problems without it.
I've questioned it's use capabilities also. I just received last week a brass unit with knob set screw and pressure gauge that was on sale on Amazon.

The order is not terribly important but I do put the splitter at the spigot so the second hose is not regulated. and the 90 at the camper
We use our second hose to wash feet / sand.........

I'm one for filtering before the regulator.
spigot > coil hose > in line filter> pressure regulator > 2 way splitter > > 12' water hose > 90 ell.
All depends on if you want the splitter filtered or not where it goes.
Is there really a right or wrong?
My set up:
coil hose > common in line filter > regulator > hose > water softener > hose > dual water filter assembly > short hose > elbow
Need a softener where I spend my summers. I can take it out of the system for my winter travels.
I've come across spigots pretty close to the ground where you need the flexible hose first. And a second elbow is helpful when the spigot is horizontal or can be used also on spigots close to the ground.
I also have metal quick disconnects on all my hoses and after the regulator. First three items are screwed together. Sure makes things go quicker for setup.

Me too!
Why take the chance of crap getting into your regulator and ruining it?
Spigot > Splitter > Filter (and short coil wrapped inlet hose if necessary) > Regulator > Hose > 90º Ell
And as mentioned, if the spigot is far away, the splitter can go anywhere convenient. (but may require you to have another short hose)

It wasn't in your question but, I'm not sure a 12' hose will be long enough. I carry a 30' hose and have used every inch of it on occasion.

we use our outside shower to do the same...we use the splitter at the site if we have sewer hookup to flush black tank at the site instead of using dump stattion

"crap" and "sand" in the city water? Where do you camp that has this in the potable water? Our State Parks water supplies are checked weekly by the Department of Health. I imagine private parks are checked as well. If there's a problem with the water quality, they turn the water off and issue bottled water.

The main thing is to have the regulator first to keep excess pressure off the other components.

The main thing is to do whatever makes the most sense. My adjustable pressure regulator is the most expensive part in my city water hook-up - much more than the hose Wye (splitter), the hose, the filter, the 90° "L". So my set-up is the spiGOt, the splitter, the hose and then the filter, then the adjustable pressure regulator then the 90° "L". My 5th wheel has a utilities bay with a big hole/port in the bottom. My set-up allows my filter and my more costly adjustable regulator to be inside the closed door on the utilities bay so it and the filter are out-of-sight of curious passers-by.
This thread reminds me of the exacting details of "how to make one's black tank pristine."

Rust also. That is we flush hydrants around here at least once a year. May be twice.
I've been the first person at a site not used for quite a while a few times. Been warned to flush the line. Filter first comes in handy if you forget.
Also, look up cleaning water towers online. There is a reason they need cleaning . Pretty sure water tower cleaning was a topic a few months ago.

Good points about putting the in line filter prior to the regulator to protect the regulator. Having used a cheap plastic regulator in the past and now owning a nice brass unit with gauge, I will change my setup. Thanks for pointing this out. ~Jim

Many people put the inline filter before the hose, so only filtered water goes into the hose. In that case, you want the 6" flex hose between the spigot and filter so the leverage of the long filter doesn't accidentally break the spigot off.
Then the sequence is
Spigot-->6" flexible hose-->cylindrical filter-->NSF 12' hose-->elbow-->City Water inlet. This omits the "Siamese" 2-way splitter. It's not directly needed unless you want two water connections for kids to wash feet or something. What were your plans for it?

I was thinking the same. I'll probably grab a 25 foot zero g hose as well

I've also been thinking it should add one of those particulate filters on the entry point of the splitter and some kind of adapter to make it easier on my hands to connect to the spigot.

I made a few changes on my 2021 GeoPro. It came with a WaterPur canister filter installed in the rear compartment. The manufacturer did a typically crappy job of installing it. In a nutshell it came loose and caused some leaks. I removed it, replumbed the lines around it, and rigged it up for exterior use. My city water connection is behind my ladder on the rear of the trailer. I rigged the filter on some brackets that hang from my ladder. I can also use it to fill my potable tank. So, the sequence I use for my water hookup is....city water tap to 25 ft hose to pressure controller to canister filter to 4 ft hose to city water connection on the trailer. That keeps all the parts packaged nicely. I don't get all worked up over sand. The filter will keep it out of the trailer. If it ever got into the pressure controller its a cheap part...toss it and replace it! I've never had a problem there.
