For those who boondock, what type of coffee maker do you like? I have read some reviews, but they tend to be linked to Amazon. I would like some real feedback from those of you who have used coffee makers with out electricity. Gotta have my morning "cuppa" Thank you!

We haven’t boondocked yet but we always use a Chemex drip coffee maker with a Bean Envy pot to heat water on the stove. It makes delicious coffee. We wrap the Chemex in bubble wrap and put it in a plastic shoe box for travel days so it doesn’t break.

We have used an old Mr Coffee pot and filter basket, pour the hot water slowly and let it drip.

During our early camping years boondocking in Key West every winter 6-10 weeks at a time we have used:

Cowboy Coffee Pot with paper filters (Percolator type) on the stove or grill
French Press & hot water from a Tea Pot on the stove or grill
One Cup "pour-thru" w/paper filter & hot water from a Tea Pot on the stove

Once we got a Keurig at home, this replaced all of the above with:

These days we camp almost entirely in electric hookups so while we have the Tea Pot and One Shot in the camper for emergencies, we have a dedicated machine for the camper.

As you know, when you're boondocking water is precious. So we use this

I know, I know. Amazon link, but I bought mine elsewhere. Anyway, This thing doesn't use much more water than it takes to make your coffee. There's virtually no clean up. I use new K-cups when I camp and save the empties. At home I'll peel the top off and rinse out the grounds and reuse the cup 5-7 times with these.

We also use Presto Joe for a one or two cup morning, but tend to use a standard stove top percolator coffee pot . This makes the RV smell great in the morning.

Back in the day, while boondocking or hunting, we used the old blue porcelain cowboy pot with matching mugs. You could pick a set up at any store for around $5. We'd take out the basket and percolator rod and leave them at home as they are not needed for cowboy coffee. Used Eight o'Clock Coffee beans that we ground at the store. (there was no such thing as Starbucks back then). Today we are more or less coffee snobs, but NOTHING beats the first sip of freshly brewed cowboy coffee on a brisk morning.

I recommend staying away from the 12V pots as they use a lot of current and are slow.

Boil water in any pot on propane stove. Pour into Melitta cone basket. Cheap and easily available.

We keep the carafe and basket in the box it came in. We haven't broken it yet but, if it does, they're available everywhere.

Now that we have solar panels and a 2KW inverter to run our Keurig intermittently, this is unlikely to be used except in prolonged poor solar conditions.

Going back to our tent camping days, we still like the blue speckled pot for cowboy coffee. It isn’t that hard to do and it’s good coffee. Lately we’ve used an Italian Moka pot. Heats on the stovetop. Makes an espresso-like coffee, which I generally dilute with hot water for a more traditional coffee. Note that a 6-cup pot really makes less than 3 regular cups.

I've been using my Presto My Joe for 10 years now. Love it. I also have old fashioned 4 cup coffee post to heat water and have used it to make regular ground coffee.

backcountry boondocking or at a campsite that has generator hours I have an antic Pyrex Fire Glass percolator coffee pot that makes great coffee on the propane stove.

I should have added percolator pots are great I went with all glass so I could see how strong the coffee was getting

French press.. comes in different sizes depending on how much you need to brew. Makes a great cup.

For no hookups the French press is hard to beat. I use a 12 oz model, put in enough grounds for a 30oz cup, let it steep then when I put it in the cup I top off with hot water so I get a lot of coffee from a small coffee maker. It works well for me.

A simple old stove stop percolator -- we usually keep a few gallons of bottled "drinking water" to make our coffee, set it up @ night and light it off in the AM. Love that aroma!!! (...kinda makes me want to make some coffee right now!).

I normally have one latte in the morning. Rather than bring my espresso machine and all of its accoutrements, I just make due with the chilled Mocha Latte in the 13.7 oz bottle. Walmart now has their own house brand, so you're no longer stuck with only the Starbucks brand.
