Coyote mix or dog/wolf San Diego

I live in San Diego East County, Desert area with some green. We have Cyotes in area vefry close buit all are light brown, and the ones we see are ly brown as well as the roads sides,

This one was camera shot the other day from the ranch owner that we bord our horses at.

And today a pack went after her full grown golden retrivor grabbing her by the back legs.

I dont think it was a local Coyote...

Any Ideas? from the group are welcome.

That looks more like a wolf, to me.

My son says it's most likely a coywolf, a wolf coyote hybrid.

If it’s a wolf pack then it would have to be Mexican wolves which California is not part of there normal range. Otherwise it’s likely just coyotes. Wish we had something next to it for size context.

The ears are a giveaway. Coyote ears are sharp pointed and wolves are rounded on top. Either wolf or wolf/coyote cross. We have Red wolf and coyote hybrids locally.

Possible Mexican gray wolf and coyote hybrid.

This according to someone I'm familiar with that lives in the area.

Agreed after expanding the photo. Especially since isn’t a wolf population in Southern California. There was a single Grey Wolf that migrated from Oregon but it was unfortunately killed by a car in Kern County last year.

My opinion also. And, the lighting is not consistent.

Completely photoshopped.

The lighting is wrong just like emm-dee said, plus the front right leg (left side of photo) has muscle strain like weight is being placed upon it but the photo appears that the leg is off the ground or not touching the ground in a normal way. (Zooming in makes it look weird) And the clarity of the wolf is different compared to the rest of the photo. Plus the right side of the wolfs backside (left side of photo) almost looks like it’s straight lined and computer generated/taken from another photo

X3. The animal pictured is a wolf. Whether this photo is legit remains to be seen. The animal appears to be 3D while nothing else in the photo is 3D.

Chief Rick from "MS Gulf Coast" posted this same picture/question combo yesterday; motives for the topic along with the actual content is suspect.

I am Chief Rick - don't question my motives when you don't know me.

You do realize what assume means?

Just exactly what do you think my motives are?

I cross-posted seeking information for this OP and posted above what I took away.

LOL, ok, that didn't turn out to be what I expected. Love the internet. My apologies. I wonder if the photo could be true content but has been 'touched' by some kind of filter, I know android can do this.

I have seen my share of wolves in the wild. A video would have been more convincing than a still. Just sayin'.

Now that I look closer it does appear to resemble a silhouette decoy. Although if the story is true about it attaching a domestic dog, well it hard to dispute that.

Long live the internet!
