Crossing a border

What requirements are necessary to cross into Canada with a pet dog? We're looking at a trip up by the border and may have a situation where we cross into Canada for a day. We have our Yorkie with us and don't want to leave it alone in the trailer while we're touring.

This site should have all the answers.

Biggest thing is to have all the dog's vaccinations up to date with proof.

Also might be required to show proof of age (probably Vet's statement if no other paperwork is available).

Even though it's a temporary visit, your dog is subject to all the other regulations with the exception of fees.

Also, have a talk with your Yorkie and tell it to be on it's best behavior. When my wife and I were traveling with our Shih Tsu he was a show off and it scored him plenty of doggy treats and pats on the head

I know that when we head south to the US with our kitty we make sure all her shots are up to date and we bring papers from the vet indicating that they are current. Have never been asked for proof but it is required.

Also, if you bring any food or treats for your pup, leave then in the original packaging. Food/treats in a baggie or tupperware type container won't be allowed.
