Dealer out of business! Help!

Bought our 355RE Sandpiper 11 months ago. With the extended warranty. Dealer helped with several problems we had. Was impressed after reading some of the problems on this forum.
Now we find our dealers closed the doors.
Can some one advise us of the next step. No phone # on Forest River site. Need to contact the manufacture.
Also, should I get a refund on the warranty we purchased?

Try the FR contact numbers. They should be able to help you out with what you need.

A co-worker told me about dealer this morning @ work. Kinda upset. Closest dealer is 3 hours away.

Dave,

When you say extended warranty do you mean a 5 year plan or the extra year warranty from Forrest River.

If it is the extra year from Forrest River then any Forrest River dealer can hi or it, if they will honor it is another story as you can read on many post. Hopefully the dealer 3hrs away will look at this as an opertunity to land more customers and help.

If you bought one of the 5 year coverage plans then there may be some contact info in your leitiuture. A phone call to them should give you a list of repair centres they work with and hopefully an RV service center close to you is on their list. I have had luck with a repair center and not a dealer when dealing with warranty work from third party providers.

Most extended warrantees are written by companies separate from your dealer and are therefore good anywhere and at any dealer. The dealer who sold it to you simply made a huge commission for talking you into it. (the commissions are normally close to 50% of what you are charged).

Except in Texas. Under Texas law even if a dealer sells Forest River products but not specifically Sandpiper units he does NOT have to work on the unit. Don't ask me how I know this.

You're absolutely right and I believe it's everywhere - not just Texas. I meant to say, any FR dealer or authorized repair facility *can* do it (and be paid for it). Sadly, they're not required to.

I've read enough in this thread alone (plus I have my own experience with 3rd party warranties) to think you are wasting your time awaiting a call back from F.R. (unless you mean you are waiting for a call from the issuer of your warranty).

With having a third party 5 year warranty may be better. I personally have found that repair RV centers, those who only work on RVs and not sell them, often sign up as support centers with these companies. These RV repair centers are usually very good to deal with.
