As recipients of such a good deed....KUDOS to you, cowracer!
Some will recall that DH and I had a really bad experience on the second night of our first ever extended trip...first fire-up of our furnace and the smoke alarm wake up.
After getting great advice here, I still didn't want to leave our dog Fred in the RV the next day...feared it was also an electrical problem....I was terrified.
This could have totally ruined our trip.
Across the park was a fine young man who owns an A/C/Heating business. He came over and explained the smoke source to us (the same as some here did) then pulled panels and checked everything out, assuring us that we were safe.
Like you he wouldn't consider taking money for his time, so.....
The next night we invited him and his wife over for "OPEN BAR!"....LOL he kept declining as I named off what we had....when I got to Gentleman Jack and Grey Goose he yelled "invitation accepted"!
We ended up with four couples, and listened to this awesome young man telling stories about his brothers and cousins deer hunting that made me laugh so hard, for hours, I woke up the next morning with my ribs aching. Not kidding! (DH said it made him feel good to see me "laugh with such abandon.)
He saved our trip, and in trying to repay him, he blessed us again with several hours of heart felt friendship and laughter.
We left with their email addresses, and friends we'll remember always.
Yes, FTR, we intend to pay it forward when presented with the opportunity to do so.
Oh, he and his wife were in their first non-pop-up camper...brand new Jayco.
Again, good on ya! and may your blessing to that elderly couple come back to you many times over.
