Didn't expect this one

Today I went out to the wife's car in the driveway to get some packages she had in there. I heard a noise that sounded like a propane tank when you are running the furnace or other high BTU thing. I walk over to the traler (on the side of drive) and open up the inspection flap on the propane tank cover. The picture below is what I found!

I closed the valve and that quieted things down. I haven't checked the tank to see how much I lost yet but it was close to full before this happened. I've never seen this happen before but I'm guessing it was a combination of a cr@ppy swedge on the hose fitting and the 100 degree heat today. glad I caught it but still pretty shocking.

It doesn't happen very often, but it does happen. The good news is that you found it before anything bad happened, and a couple new pigtails will fix it.

On our mini lite it did the same thing about 6 months after we purchased it. We lost almost a full tank.
