A lot of the price inflation has to do with overseas demand for our diesel fuel which is far more popular in europe and Asia then it is here. Other countries are basically sucking our supply down.

Here is my 2 cents. Virtually all commerical vehicles use diesel fuel, especially 18-wheelers. Our government has allowed all those operators to add a surcharge for fuel costs to their invoices. So, the trucking industry has no incentive to push for lower diesel fuel costs. We, the little guys with no political power end up paying way too much for diesel fuel.

Yea, almost a dollar spread here too.
The refineries are making fuel oil (high sulphur) now and not diesel (Sulphur scrubbed).
Diesel has not had the same decrease in demand that gasoline has had due to the worldwide economy.
Trucks still got to roll. Cars don't.

ALL fuel is still very expensive there relative to here.
I used UK prices here.
Petrol diesel fuel prices in Europe
1.64 E per LITER of gas and 1.71 E per liter of diesel.
https://www.google.com/#hl=en&tbo=d&...w=1580&bih=691
1.64E is $2.13 per liter of gas and 1.71E is $2.25 per Diesel.
There are 3.78541 liters per US gallon.
That would be $8.06 a gallon of gas and $8.52 per gallon of diesel.
.

I'm not lucky enough to live close enough to my job to bike it!
But lucky enough that my employer pays for my fuel as part of my wages.
Some weeks I get a raise .... "this week"
Some weeks my salary is less "last week"

My boss pays for my fuel also, but it always ends up costing me in the end.
