Home now from what will most likely be my wife's last trip. She had fun which is all that matters.

Sorry to hear that. Truthfully if I had to have a last trip it would have to be the fort at Christmas time. I hope all is ok in your family life. Best wishes.

I had to manage the whole trip including her care without help. She had fun but I was too worried, sad and tired to enjoy it myself.

I had a similar experience there with my mom, it was very challenging. I remember standing on the roof of the Contemporary watching the fireworks with tears in my eyes thinking this is the last time the whole family intact would be there together. Years later, she is still with us and things have gotten more difficult than ever, and a trip like that would be about impossible. I'm glad you made it fun for her, and I know it was not fun for you. That makes you a real good guy.

Tim, you’re one tough guy to take on that much alone! My hats off to you! But I guarantee you’ll look back on it some day and realize how much it meant to DW and yourself! In sickness and in health...God bless you!

There is alot more to the story than what Ive said but I don't want to turn this thread into a pity party about me. Fort Wilderness and Disney World will always hold a special place in my heart but going back will always remind me of what once was. It will be years if ever beforw I can return there and feel anything but sorrow and loss.

Disney World Fort Wilderness

I have seven days booked in July. I was telling granddaughter that I would take her to Ocean Lakes in Myrtle Beach for her birthday and the first thing she told me was she was she wanted to see Chip n Dale at the Fort. I really, really enjoyed my granddaughter. She is tons of fun

Just booked 4 nights in August! We tent camped there last year but I can't wait to have our RV this time. Probably not going in the parks, but considering a day at the water parks only.

They have great water parks. Or you can go off Disney property and go to valvano bay I have not been to that on but heard it is great!

We don’t get to go again until Spring 2020, which will only be our second trip to Ft Wilderness. That entire park is simply the best . We booked a premium site and were glad.
If you haven’t tried KOA Savannah, it’s worth it for a layover. Clean park and friendly folks , nice sites with patios, swings and premium fire pits. Very close to 95

Be aware that Disney is starting construction on their newest DVC Resort which will be located near Fort Wilderness. Fencing is up so I am not sure exactly how it will affect the Fort but do know that a lot of Disney and Fort regulars are not a happy camper!!!!!!!

Yea it kind of sucks unless tour DVC. They are making bungalows. The sad part TRIPLE D Ranch is being moved to behind the 700 loop, no more Mickey's backyard bbq, and most likely the part of the beach where the golf carts park will be gone. They are supposedly extending Clementines beach to the other side of the boat dock. I hate fixing things that aren't broken!.
