Do hotels allow dogs?
We did our first winter travel last year, leaving in January. We are from MN so both coming and going we needed to stay in hotels along the way. We really want to get another dog and are looking at a medium size one. It seemed stressful enough to try and find hotels that had room to park our 5th wheel and truck and with a dog we are just not sure how big a deal it is. Would really appreciate some feedback on this.
We lost our dog about a year ago and just now are thinking we need to get another.
Thanks.

You pretty much have to check with each hotel. Within a given brand some allow them, some don't. Some charge a fee. We've had our best results with LaQuinta.

If you have a 5th wheel, why do you need a hotel? Kind of defeats the point of having it.

Most hotels allow dogs. Many have a size (weight limit) and will charge a fee for the dog. The hotels that allow dogs have special room set aside for pets.

Do a quick search for Pet Friendly hotels. There are several websites that will provide the info you need.

Thanks for the information!
We have to winterize our 5th wheel for our cold winter here and the campgrounds coming & going aren't open at this time of the year. We returned in April and the last place we camped was I think in OK. We had 2 more nights in hotels until we were home. Too cold!

Most hotels allow dogs but charge a fee, also most hotels have parking round back for tractor trailers.

The single biggest reason we have a camper is because most hotels do not allow dogs and we could never find a good place to go on vacation. We like our dogs to be with us.

I hear LA Quinta has a mandatory pet friendly policy. But we have a cat... So not sure.

We live in Wisconsin and travel to Florida each year. Always takes us at
least 2 days of travel to get there. We always stay at La Quinta's as they
are a pet friendly hotel chain. They don't charge extra and usually have a
pet walking area with doggie poop bags for guests to use. We travel with a
dog and a cat, tell them at the front desk and walk right in with the dog on
it's leash. Sometimes have a problem when the elevator door opens and another pooch is eyeballing your pooch from about 2 ft away. I don't like
over nighting in the TT when its snowing or below freezing out there. Hoteling
is alot easier till we get to the warm weather.

Pet friendly hotels
There are several websites and apps that are set up to help identify pet friendly hotels, tho we have found that most La Quinta hotels we've encountered are pet friendly without charge, also have had luck with Marriott residence inns.

Check with LaQuinta Inns. They have always taken our pets, with no issue. All they have asked is for you to fill out a registration for the pet, and we have never been charged for the pet. Very pet friendly.

We are looking to travel to FL this summer to stay with my brother, and I have been using Trivago. One of the filters is for pet friendly, and I've found several very nice options in the areas we were looking to stay on the way down and back.

We travel with a black lab and have found that Motel 6 is OK with pets. Only use the motels for winter travel.

When we drive from Northern Ontario to Florida and back we spend 2 nights each way in motels. We have never had trouble on the major travel routes finding parking and accommodation for us and a 70 pound boxer or two. As for those asking why we would stay in motels when we have a motorhome - it's not any fun at 25 below with no water!

Red roof inn. Sometimes discounts if you have a dog.
All hotels do not allow dogs. Most don't.
