hubby did that exact thing (to his credit, not his fault - coming out of storage facility, car coming from the other direction came flying around the corner of the building, so he swerved toward the building & the gutters on the building ripped the entire width of the awning & punctured a hole in the body of the rv at the rear bracket). took it to camping world who encouraged us to run it through insurance. we have national general through good sam. long story short, they paid & our rates have not gone up. it worked out very well for us. good luck!
