Do you want to lose an awning? Because that’s how you lose an awning.

Do you want to lose an awning? Because that’s how you lose an awning.

This awning literally extends over the campground roadway and I drove under the corner of it with just my truck.

Agree with the OP. however also worth commenting......RV sizes have ballooned in recent years. Original legacy campgrounds are not designed for 37 ft campers with 12 slide outs, 2 decks, and personal helipad. Oh and the extended bed crew cab F950 trucks.

Personally, I like keeping to a modest setup. The family and I love wooded state park camping and giant rigs can't fit in most of those type sites.

At least the back isn't open. Sometimes you have to accept the little victories.

Regardless of your personal desire to keep things modest, if the owner whose rig is pictured can't keep his big stuff out of the road, he shouldn't extend his awning. Surely this is not the big bus's fault.

Not too long ago there was a post on this forum where the OP returned to his site and found the outside kitchen door ripped off the TT and laying on the ground. From the pic he posted it was plain to see that he had left it open. The OP claimed it was shut, but from the pic you could see the rear corner of the TT was even with the access road and it was unscathed. The open kitchen door was thereby protruding into the access roadway and got clipped.

It looks like there is another RV just past it that is sticking out as well. Maybe the park should enforce keeping the road cleared. If rigs won't fit don't let them in. You know if anyone clips them the RV owners are going to mad.

Looks like the next RV down the lane is pretty close to the road also. Maybe the park staff needs to look at where their placing large rigs?

Awning over access road

Might there be a possibility that when looking at the positions of the campers on the right side of the road, that the unit with the awning extending over the road might have solved that problem had it been backed in so the front faced the road like the ones on the right?

Or if it was a pull-through, how is he going to make a left turn with the unit when the road looked like it is a horseshoe road?

Takes all kinds!

It’s a pull-thru and that back corner is tight!

He’s in the site, but just barely.

I don’t envy the campground whatsoever.

The good, 100% occupancy.

The bad, 100% occupancy and big rigs. There just isn’t a whole lot they can do.

Are you in a VA state park? We've seen that a lot there.
