Does anyone actually like their RV?

I'm looking to buy. It's my 6th RV. I've heard all the complaints. Just wondering if there's anybody that likes Forest River?

99% yes and the other 1% is because nothing is perfect.

Love ours.
First year problems were corrected and I've made mods to address anything else we thought could be better.

There's not another Georgetown like ours, that's why I even have badging that says it's a "Limited Edition".

We bought a used 2014 Palomino Columbus 340Rk 5'r October of last year and have had great results with it. Is it perfect, no, but it meets our needs and overall very good quality. I live in it 3/4 time so it gets a lot of use and the independent systems work well.

Overall, Very pleased with out FR product.

Don't let web forums fool you, they draw people who feel they've been wronged and want to vent, looking for help or want company in their misery. It's the same on nearly every web forum you will frequent.

Take my F-150 for example. They sell 600,000 plus per year. Web forums are full of people complaining about everything from paint glitches to engine failures. But each web site has only in the 10's of thousands of members at best. Lets assume a web site has 20,000 members and they all have the same problem with the same f-150 in the same model year. Percentage wise, that's 3.3% of all the total vehicles sold that year. Statistically insignificant, unless you're one of those 20,000 people. But it also extrapolates to you have a 3.3% chance of getting one with a problem and a 96.7% chance of not having a problem. that doesn't mean those 20,000 should be brushed off any the manufacturer though, they should get their stuff fixed under warranty, but even at 20,000 units, it's still only a 3.3% failure rate for the manufacturer. That would be considered acceptable failure rate by almost any manufacturer.

Now, the RV industry has lower production numbers and a little bit more trouble with QA procedures, but even tripling the chances in example above, you only have a 9-10% chance of problems. That's a 90%chance of not having a problem. Even if we double that 10% chance to 20%, you still have an 80% chance of getting a good one. let's go to 30% (which is absurdly high), still 70% chance of a good one. Doing a thorough PDI with someone who knows what they are looking at lowers you chances of a bad one all over again. you still have to do your due diligence, just like you would with anything you buy. That it costs more that something else you would buy just means you should look longer and harder and seek experts. Sort of like what you do when you buy a home. "Buyer beware" really means "be an informed consumer".

The majority of people who are happy with (insert product here) don't post on web forums, they're too busy just living their lives and enjoying their (insert product here).

I've had as many problems as anyone. All are either fixed or have appointments to get fixed. By end of August, I'll have it in 100% shape, with some neat add-ons, and more coming.

I love this thing. Best thing I ever did. BUT...........I will have over 100 days camping by the end of the year. If I had 10 days camping, I might wish I had done it differently. It's a lifestyle. I wish I had never had ANY Problems, and many folks don't.

But I had rather have a travel trailer and problems that get fixed, than not have one at all (and of course, no problems).

I love our TT but the wife grumbles because she can't get close enough to the head of the bed to finish making it in the morning. The trailer has performed very well otherwise. The A/C is loud but I just down the fan speed and all is good again. Looking forward to getting out again.

There are two ways to look at an RV purchase.

Buy new and live with fixing minor items yourself or drop the unit off at your local dealer and maybe get it back in two weeks if you are lucky

Buy used and hope the previous owner has already fixed everything.

Be for warned that RV dealerships are INDEPENDENTS who buy units at wholesale and sell retail. There is no National Warranty Service Center cooperation like with the Auto Industry. Many dealerships will refuse to work on any RV's that they did not sell.

You need to understand. The workers in these Indiana Sweat Shops, called RV Factories, pretty much get paid by the piece and can go home with eight hours pay once they finish that quota or produce even more and get paid overtime. Due to this they toss stuff together as fast as possible. Thus the imperfections one will find in their $100K motorhome.

Want perfection pay a million for a custom made one.

This is our second season for our 2017 MBS Sunseeker 2400WS
When we first got it, the ignition board on the hot water heater was defective and there was a problem with the slide out wiring. I ended up getting Forest River to approve warranty work from a local RV Service Center.

About six months into ownership, I decided it was time to check the water level in the house batteries. Come to find out one battery had a dry cell. It appeared as though the battery had been dropped either prior to or during installation and a hole was punched in the bottom. I called Forest River warranty service. They had me take the battery to a local Auto Parts store and have the battery tested. Once tested, I emailed them the results and two weeks later I had a check for $60. Since the very same brand and size new battery cost me $65, I figure I got a pretty good deal having it only cost me $5 for six months usage.

Is our Sunseeker perfect, by no means, BUT, it is not a custom made million buck unit either. It is a mass produced class C that went down a production line.

It's ours, we maintain it, and we enjoy it.

hope this is of some help

I like mine. I'm brand agnostic, so I don't know if I would buy another, but I do know I like the one I have now.

We've had our 2015 Coachmen Chaparral 360IBL for two years now and we love it. Floor plan is great and suits our needs well. Yep, there have been some issues but all were solved by DHH (Dear Handy Hubby). Had to have the Dometic ac replaced under warranty but was done at an rv campground by a Dometic authorized dealer. We are making adjustments and small mods to make it ours but would buy this unit again
