Depends on the park setup and how long we plan to stay. Right now I'm just happy to find any slot anywhere, RV park or boondocking!

Site

Depends on width of park road. Usually prefer Pull Trough for 1 night stays.

Back in, it helps keep me remember my backing technique.

Just makes sense for many on their way to a final destination to find a pull thru for convenience for an overnight stay (ready to hit the road next day). Once we arrive at final destination for extended stay it really doesn't matter to us. We are in a small MicroLite 21DS which is pretty easy to maneuver and back in if need be.

I prefer backins. Even if it takes me 30 tries to get it in there.

I personally have no preference. I find that with a pull-through you usually have to go way forward and back up anyway, because there never is enough room to swing wide as you enter so you can be lined up at your intended stopping point.

1 nite Pill thru, More Backin

My 5er is a Rear View style with Big Windows so for that reason I prefer backin. Exception is when traveling a long route and I need some 1 nighters. Then it's a pull thru for me and I usually dont even unlook.

I'm a farm kid, so how much rig (or how little) sits behind my truck really doesn't matter to me as far as putting it where I want it. However, I do agree with several replies for an overnighter on a trip ... a pull thru works out better. If I'm staying for a few or several days, I prefer a back in. There are usually more private, sometimes more shaded, and cheaper.

For transit stops - one night as we travel, I prefer pull through sites. For destination stays, back in sites are usually much nicer. Some back in sites have obstacles where the front of the truck needs to go when backing in. 😕

I really don’t like the jug handle pull through sites that are tight. National Parks often have these. It is often more difficult to position our 30’ trailer in these type sites.

I agree with other. Prefer back in over pull thru because it provides more privacy, sometimes more space.

I have on occasion stayed at pull thru if just an over night and not unhitching.

Yes, it is true, the longer the trailer, the easier to maneuver when backing.

X2 - but, I'll take a pull thru if it's a good site and back ins are not available.

I don’t go to parks if possible, that is like being in the city. How I get in makes no difference. Open space without divided spaces preferably. Parking in a space and especially with hookups is not really camping, just mobile living.

We go to State and COE parks 95% of the time. And we always try for lake front sites. Got to love the reservation systems and the maps. Commercial sites are mostly first come first served and are ridiculously close to your neighbor. I am not willing to $50+ a nite for ritzy super RV parks.

Pull thru sites usually have the right side of the trailer facing the water view. And I think it is more private.

Your mileage may vary

These replies are very interesting to me. I hadn’t considered the privacy issue. I just find it’s easier for me to back in straighter than it is to pull in forward.
I guess I’ve backed so often that I rarely get to “practice” pulling straight in. I know which way to turn my steering wheel to get the trailer to go where I want it to. Other than driving I have very little experience getting the trailer to go where I want it to while going forward.
My trailer lives in our backyard. It’s 8’ wide. I back it through a 9’ gate. Slowly and carefully but it’s not all that difficult for me. Trust me... I’m not claiming to be an expert. Not in the least. I just found it interesting Thursday that I was having trouble getting the trailer parallel with the concrete patio when I was pulling in to our site at Lakewood RV Resort in Hendersonville, NC.

I pull a 32’ travel trailer with a Ford Expedition.
I pull a 40 foot....for me it always depends on the access to the site : adjacent trailers, Trees n shrubs, site composition ( Mud, dirt, grass , ashphalt, gravel , concrete )weather...visibility ! ect every campground and condition is different !

And we really like back in sites where we can park Jack and Jill with our friends. Not every campground allows that but it is great to have double awnings and private space.

Same for me. There’s a few exceptions, but back-in sites are almost always the better sites for space and privacy. However, Skidaway Island State Park in Savannah, GA has some fabulous pull-throughs.

In my experience it is. The closer the trailer axle to the truck, the quicker it turns.
