Dometic Refrigerator service recall.

I don't have the recall in front of me but there's a recall of some models.

Apparently there's a possibility of the gas leaking into the living quaters. Not good.

I'll try to post more info on it when I get the letter in front of me. IIRC, it's just a re-work kit for the plumbing.

The recall is due to the possibility of a weld cracking on the unit and allowing the refrigerant to spill into the burner assembly causing a fire if the unit is running on propane. The "fix" is to put a metal shield around the burner assembly and add a hi temp cutoff to shut the propane off if it senses high temperature. A stop gap measure at best.

Eh, delete this one, I got the letter in the mail yesterday and thought I'd post it, no biggie!

Call me whatcha'will, I've answered to worse. Just ask my wife! ;-)

Good luck dealing with Dometic. I found them to be a terrible company. Because I scheduled my own appointment with the vendor to fix mine instead of going through them...they refuse to reimburse me for the service call ($75). My fridge at the time was not working on electric...only gas, so I went ahead and had the vendor do the recall at the same time he was fixing the element that was causing it not to work on electric.

In my opinion....DOMETIC SUCKS. I will never buy another rig with Dometic products.
