you may just want to replace it with a thermostat available at HomeDepot. they start around $16... take the old one apart and shoot a picture of the wire connections... have someone at HD help you pick out a compatible one... thermostats are pretty generic

I don’t think you can just replace there stat with a regular stat, if it’s the small black or white one . The problem with there cover plate is the cushions behind them . If you pull the face plate you will see the foam pads if you push on the 3 buttons to hard they get dented and quit working. You can not replace that stat with one from a big box store like a Honeywell it will not work, you have to use that stat if you like them or not. I guess you could pull new wire and add relays to use a different stat, but Dometic makes it very hard to do. A person just has to use light pressure to use it or that foam will be pushed to far in the face plate. It’s not a bad stat except for that.

X2. My dealer's parts man said to use tweezers to remove the foam pads. He suggested they should be turned over when placing them back into their holders. And I also found you can not replace these with off the shelf from big box stores.

that is my understanding of the tstat also, you can only use the domtec one, also its still under warranty only 1 1/2 years old.
i know its a heat sensing touch pad, it started not working well late last season and this season almost not at all.

If you have a tstat like the black one the one it replaced is like the white one. They are a direct swap out for each other (3 wires). Can be had with all existing modes. Some individuals are going back to the white one. It comes in black also. If you don't have this tstat a moot input.

You have to becareful if you swap out and your unit is a heat pump , make sure you get a heat pump Stat, they do come in both colors.

That's why I said it can be had with all existing modes (standard modes plus heat pump/heat strip etc.).

This is a good idea, that stat is fine it’s only the face plate. You could also remove the foam and refill with silicone. Let it cure and your problem over. It is such a problem when I was in warrenty Coachmen sent 3 new face plates but after I learned still have the replacement on for over 2 years. I think you can just buy the face plate on eBay, very common problem

Can one of you please upload a picture of the foam you're referring to? I've gotten used to having the faceplates off but would like to put them back on if the random changes could be stopped.

Ive replaced mine three times and always the same problem. I ended up removing the faceplate and using it that way.

Not all but I think maybe some failures are because sometimes the mode selections are treated as though they are mechanical/tactile type switches and therefore are pressed. The switches are capacitive and only a light instantaneous touch is required to make the selections. Then again the failures may be caused by defects. I personally have not had any difficulty with the 2 tstat's in my unit for the 2 years they have been installed. I have not discarded the ones they replaced however; just in case.
