Driver & Passenger Safety; A vs. C

Life has inherent risks, so unless we are laying on the couch all day, things can happen.

I have read through comments on this Forum, and scanned the web in general for more information regarding the safety of these two vehicle classes. In particular, I was looking for front end collision data. Is there any hard data out there from independent testing agencies that covers this?

I have participated in activities my entire life that involve risk. Just trying to understand the safety aspects when my wife or one of my other family members is sitting next to me as we decide whether to purchase a Class A (pusher) or C (truck body).

One of the key differences is van chaises are safety tested as a Van design. This may provide more protection by design. Class-A motorhomes are less regulated.

Hmmmmm... good question. Do class A motorhomes have airbags? Would it matter if you had the engine in the back or the front? Do the passengers in the back have any protection other than seatbelts (both A and C )?

I can't find any information on the safety of either vehicle. Our van has seatbelts and airbags for driver and front passenger, but nothing for the rear passenger.

I would look at a super C that uses a Freightliner chassis, if you are worried about front end crashes. This has a truck frame with a substantial diesel engine for front end protection also air bags and compliant restraint system such as shoulder belts and seat belts. Along with head restraints from whiplash with high back chairs.

Just an opinion based on design and crash requirements of trucks vs a glass enclosure in a class A motor home.
