I don't think I agree with that logic. If you carry it out that means you would not report a bank robber as he left the bank, or a person who just shot at someone, or perhaps a person who set a bomb down to explode later.....

The health consequences of his actions could be just as deadly as any of the above scenarios, just not so dramatic. By not reporting it, you make yourself morally responsible for the unwitting person who does not know of the danger who follows behind, unless of course you don't care about them any more than he who dumped the potentially deadly sewage, don't you?

We were at a National Forest campground once and a group of late teens, early 20's came in. They were the normal rambunctious young-ins. At one point they thought it would be a good idea for one of them to stand on the back of the truck with his pants at his ankles and ride around the campground. We had about 5-6 kids under 12 in our group. I reported them to the Forest Ranger patrolling the area. He escorted them out. I'm ok being a rat and with internet strangers despising me.

I don't care if I saw the last person scrub the area with bleach. I use rubber gloves.

Wait...the "dump station" is to empty the RV tanks? No wonder I got strange looks when I went there in the mornings with my paper and a cup of coffee and squatted over that little hole.

Me too, I use disposable gloves, don't do anything inside the camper while in that process. If i need something in there DW does it. When Im finished I turn them inside out as I remove them and dispose of them in the dumpster nearby. Clean, sanitary and no problems.

LOL, too funny.

For future reference and to help you determine what type of dump station you’re looking at, here are two visual aids. Most campground dump stations have a cap or plug over the opening. This is your clue it’s for RVs.

This dump station is for humans, it almost never has a cover over the hole.

Could be. Had he asked to borrow one he would have also made the RV forums. Can't remember if it was here or IRV where some guy got crucified because his was damaged and asked to borrow his neighbors.

Some RVers are pretty petty!

Camping Pigs

These people will show up occasionally. Sloppy, careless and contemptuous of dumping rules. The worst I have seen leave their tank drains slightly open to slowly drip their tanks onto pavement (at casinos for example) or on the ground elsewhere. It makes one sick to see this and to be among them. UGH!

If I recall correctly he was crucified because he wanted to borrow one so he wouldn't get his hose dirty and have to clean it.

Nope, NO HOSE: he put on rubber gloves and just opened the valve, letting the crap flow!!! He then grabbed the rinse hose, squirted down the area, took off his gloves and drove away.

Now, I know that I am new at the dump station, but that seems a bit wrong. Does anyone else do this? Is this an acceptable way of dumping black water? It "wreaked" of bad behavior!
Maybe the guy is to freaking cheep to buy a drain hose ???

I don't think so, his demeanor seemed as though it was his normal way of dumping.

On the bright side, I didn't have to wait long for my turn, but felt like I needed to throw my shoes away afterward!

In nearly 40 years of RV'ing, we have witnessed this kind of behavior nearly a dozen times. The whole idea of a dump station is to allow campers to dump their refuse (black water, grey water, etc.) in a civilized and sanitary way. Not using a hose connection to the sewer receptacle is simply wrong and offensive to every one of us who follows the rules of good behavior.

These folks are the same ones who toss their trash out the window on the Interstate because they can't be troubled or inconvenienced by pulling off the road to a rest stop.

Can you imagine what their homes look like??!!

SIMPLE RULE: DO NOT DUMP YOUR SEWAGE ANYWHERE WITHOUT A HOSE CONNECTION TO A PROPER DISPOSAL SITE.

Sure I can - I'm SURE they don't dirty their OWN homes. They only dirty public property.

I still carry the el-cheapo sewer hose that came in the starter kit, as a back-up. For "those RVers" that would crucify someone who needed help, well, we'll just put them in a category all to themselves. Sad.
