Earthquake Damage Assessment

Hi all - we have a 2014 Sunseeker 2450 here in Southcentral Alaska. It's nicely tucked in for the winter under its overhang - winterized, slide-outs in, and leveled on the Bigfoot levellers (on chocks). It's not fully off the ground, but the weight's off the tires. Batteries removed and stored in the garage.

We were fortunate that we didn't have any (major) damage from the recent earthquake (7.0) to our house or garage. Lots of busted glasses and "stuff" which fell - and some scary moments getting bounced around - but no damage to our foundation, structure or water/gas pipes (thankfully). We prepare for these things, and had the generator going for 12 hours until the power came back on. [The iconic road damage was a few miles away, but that was caused by ground failure in what's essentially a road built on a bog].

We checked out the inside of the Sunseeker and found the (expected) drawers flung open and kitchen "stuff" had fallen out of closets. Damp-rid spilled out of its container, but other than that, couldn't see any damage. (Levellers are all solid - no evidence of any leaks/torque or movement). I'm sure once I de-winterize I could find a new water leak somewhere, but wonder what, if any, other damage I should look for? Thanks in advance for any ideas...and Happy Solstice

It's just a matter of time here in SoCal. Haven't had a significant quake for the last 15+ years. Glad you were mostly unscathed.

I would get the propane gas lines checked out just to be sure there were no leaks.

Glad you are OK after that big scare.

Happy travels...

I would guess a camper riding out an earthquake wouldn't be much different than riding down a rough road too fast. Check out your suspension since your tires were still on the ground. Propane lines as others stated. Probably can't test for a while, but drain pipes should probably checked too.

Most of the road damage was fixed (quickly, if temporarily). Most everything should be "good to go" by next summer, so hope you have a great trip!

I would also have the roof inspected/re-sealed as it does not take much to develop a leak, especially at the front corners over the cab and the rear.
