Electric trailer jack?

Our new toy hauler does not have a powered jack. When we brought it home I had to raise and lower the trailer several times while trying to place/level it. I soon realized why people have electric jacks. We have a Vengeance Touring Edition 23FB13 with a hitch weight of 876 lbs. What would be a good jack to buy and how difficult is it to install? Would I be able to install it myself or do I need the dealership to do so?

Replacing the tongue jack with a powered one is very easy 3 bolts and a little wiring. There are several good ones out there and something around 1500 lbs capacity should be fine. I would run a good quality stranded # 14 wire to the 12V junction box on the hitch. Be sure to fuse it.

I bought one that had a 3500lb capacity on Amazon for around $100.

Three bolts to remove and install the new one. Then just install the positive connection to the battery with an inline 30 amp fuse.

So what is a spring loaded drop leg pin and do I need that? Some seem to have them and some don't.

Thanks for the information so far. I really appreciate it. I would like to order one today before the wife changes her mind so I will bother you with more questions. It appears that there is a wide variation in prices. Is it better to pay more or go with the best price? Also there are some with 7 pin connections and some that you attach to the battery. For example these 2 seem to be the same except for that:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M0S5UKB?psc=1

Which do you prefer and why?

Some others:

https://www.amazon.com/Bulldog-50018...YEB6ETYYD742MW (this one seems to have more travel length)

https://www.amazon.com/Lippert-28531...YEB6ETYYD742MW

https://www.amazon.com/Jack-Quick-JQ...YEB6ETYYD742MW

https://www.amazon.com/Best-Choice-P...YEB6ETYYD742MW

Any information would be greatly appreciated. I don't mind spending more if it gets me more, but at the same time don't want to overspend if I don't need to.

I personally would not pay more unless I was the type of guy that buys the cover to go over them to keep them from rusting with rain getting in them. I do not expect any of them to last but several years so a basic one with the lights is the choice I would make.

Love our Barker. A jack is essential for using the Equalizer hitch, imo.
