Extra battery

Would I need a special hook up if I wanted to put a second 12 volt battery on my toy hauler just to help out occasional boondocking? Thanks. You guys are my go too for this stuff!

Just need to buy extra cable to hook batteries up. Later RJD

Buy two cables from an auto parts store. Wire them in parallel and use 2 batteries all the time.

No special hook up is needed, just a pair of cables; positive to positive and negative to negative. Whatever battery you add should be identical in size, type, and specs as the current battery and preferably the same age.

Bluecat, since you have a lower number of posts, I'm going to assume, maybe incorrectly, that you have a new RV. If so and the battery is new also, just do as everyone above advised. If you have bought a used trailer and the age of the battery is not known, understand that having two batteries of different ages hooked together will limit the batteries somewhat by the older battery if it is not in great shape. I only mention this because If that is the case, It may be better in the long run to get two batteries new and you know they are of the same age and same strength.
