Fading Colors on top of Camper

I have a '14 Wildcat 337FB. The Front of the 5th wheel is a dark brown which is now starting to fade from the top down. I spoke with my dealer and they said that this year they had some issues with the fading colors. Does anyone have any tips to keep this from continuing or better yet, make the color come back? I was told to use an epoxy gloss to bring the color back but that this would have to be a temporary fix. Any help would be appreciated!

I painted mine with Rustoleum. Tried compounding and wax. It lasted about 3 months

Wow. I didn't think that, I'll have to take that into consideration! So I assume your able to make it any color, or is it only limited to certain colors?
Thank-you!

Only the colors offered by Rustoleum. Paint store does not mix.

I used Meguiar's Cleaner Wax liquid. This has both a compound and a wax in one application. It took 2 applications to remove the dull finish on the decals, but the fiberglass only needed 1 applicaton on my 2013 Rockwood FW, but it sat at the dealer for 2 yrs in the elements. We purchase new last year. I can say that Meguiar's did a great job and we use orbital buffer, which makes it alot easier to buff it out.

I had a similar problem on a three year old Outback. (Keystone RV) I tried everything until I found out was is a clear coat problem. Mine had to wet sanded and re-done by a body shop. Keystone paid for the repair!! I later traded for a new FR Signature Ultra Lite. I would think the exterior color would be covered under a different warranty than the standard one year???? Contact Forest River!!

We just got out 2015 Crusader 28RL back from the dealer Dec 2. They had it for 2 months to have the front cap painted and new decals (that were on backorder for 6 weeks) applied. They told me it was covered under manufacturers warranty for 30 months against fading so bring it in. The cap was fading 13 months after we bought it (March 31, 2015) so we used it all this year and took it in when we were done camping. The thing is it sits inside my barn year round except when being used camping. Seems it faded rather quickly for being stored inside most the time.

Good luck with yours.
Mike

Yes, Mikes86gn, we also had the same issue with our Crusader 28RL and just
Got it back from the paint shop. Primetime had the big main decal, but not the
Side decals (also on backorder). We only had ours 6 months and it was terrible.

Thank-you all for your comments. I bought this used about 4 months ago and I wonder how Forest River will act to repair as my dealer seemed to discard any resolution. But I'll give it a try. Thanks again!

Forest River covered my 2014 Wildcat with the same problem this year. It was out of warranty. Contact them directly.

To the last post,
I contacted Forest River. They were very polite but told me that the warranty coverage on my camper ended 7/2015 which is only for the original owner. So out of luck on that I guess. If you are a 2nd owner with better luck than I then I would love to know who you talked to.
If not, then I will run with their recommendation for restoration using the Meguiar's M4965 Marine/RV Fiberglass Restoration System. Hopefully I will be able to bring it back. Thank-you

That seems to be a recurring scenario. Some get them repaired, and some don't. I think it may be a different animal if you're the original owner and beyond warranty, as opposed to a second owner beyond warranty? Or it might just be whatever way the wind happens to be blowing?

I have a Cedar Creek and the front cap was replaced under warranty. The warranty is only for the original owner. Your best bet is to have the cap repainted. By the time I pulled my Creek from North Carolina to Indiana and back I could have paid to have my cap repainted.

If you bought it used they will not cover it. No warranty. Every manufacturer I have read about has the same policy.
