Long story short...look into hotels and car rentals. Finding TV/TT won't be easy, will be expensive. As most said...rentals are mostly MH's.

I’ve never seen anyone rent a tow vehicle. Your only option is going to be a motor home and rent a car. You’ll have two people driving but be able to get around.

The travel trailer rentals I’ve seen are outrageous in price.

On Friday I turned in to Enterprise Commercial Rentals the F250 diesel that Progressive authorized for me while my F150 was being repaired. I insisted on a truck of equal or greater towing capacity in the event I needed to move my TT while my truck was in the shop. The rental had the trailer brake controller, the hitch receiver insert so I could use my 2" WDH, and the 4 & 7-way plugs.

The rental cost that the insurance company paid was ~ $65 per day.

So yes, a tow vehicle can be rented.

BTW, Progressive was the OTHER GUY's insurance.

Thank you for your responses, everyone! I kinda had the gut feeling that renting a trailer + TV was not going to be any cheaper, but I had to ask the question. So hotels, cabins, lodges it is!

Not on your topic but have you considered going in mid to late September when the fall colors will be good? Oxbow Bend and Schwabacher Landing are spectacular with fall colors.

Great suggestion, Marti, except my wife teaches, so she's only available during the summer months. The other couple we are traveling with are business owners, and this is the only time they could break away during her window.

DW plans to retire after next year, so we will have LOTS more options open to us to both cruise and camp.

I know the feeling. I'm hoping I can afford to travel when I retire - which should have been 3 years ago. Oh well, maybe 2 more years and I can get out. I've been lucky to be able to get all the dates I want - like FROG, Frogtober Fest etc.
