On a more serious note, I wonder if a small torch lighter would work better than a long lighter?

I might have to give that a try. I have a little refillable torch that works a lot like a lighter (turns off when you let go of the trigger) so not likely to set myself, the camper, one of the dogs, etc. on fire trying to light the stove.

Warm weather is here. Time to keep the heat out of the trailer and use the outdoor portable oven.

X2....Ditto!

We like to dry camp at times, and making biscuits is a must on the breakfast list. Not to mention personal size pizzas, and especially those "yummy" hot apple pot pies on a cool evening, with a big dollop of ice cream on top!

Seems to me that getting the air purged out of the line is going to take however long it takes, and I don't see how more heat would help.

Can't hurt to try. If you do try, it would be nice to hear if it helps.

DW said that until we replaced our home microwave with a convection oven/microwave combo. She hasn't used the regular oven since. Now she says she's good with just a convection oven in the next camper, and she's a serious cook.

The torch type will damage the thermocouple. I used to maintain the NG heaters in the shredder building every year. The guy who ran the can baler tried to lite his once with a small torch with the exchangeable butane tank. Got the thermocouple too hot.

Same here. Haven't used home oven since we got the convection oven. DW here is very serious cook, also.

Look up the service unit of your stove’s manufacturer and call ‘em. Tell them your symptoms. Hopefully, they’ll send you a new orifice/other part. I got what I needed for my stove once.

All 3 stove burners work perfectly. I light them right away. On the oven, I can get the pilot to light fine. I tried multiple times to get the rest of it to light but it always goes out. The last time, I held in the knob for a minute and when I let it out to turn up the temperature, the flame went out. Do I have something wrong or is something broken?

Turn on gas...wait 5 minutes, open door, shoot flame thrower inside for 10 minutes....it might just stay lit.

Honestly....they're not the easiest thing to get to, but both our TT's...they worked great and we did a lot of cooking in them.

Call the service dept. of the company that made your oven. You probably need a new part. I did on an oven about the age of yours. Something about an orifice that was too small.
Has this oven always had this problem?

See my post #53.

Ok Mr Dan. I will do. This is our first time using it. I believe the previous owner used it but I haven't asked him yet.

Mine does the same thing, I hold the knob in, it lights, let go of the knob, it goes out. If I hold it in for what seems like forever, it stays lit. Then I turn the knob to 425 deg "really 350 deg" and it works great. It only does this the first light of the trip. Looking at the pilot flame while I'm holding it, it looks like air is in the line with the propane, and holding the knob in for a while clears all of the air so the pilot can burn properly.
