Flag Pole

Looking to hoist a flag on our next camping trip.. Need recommendation for 12 to 15 ft collapsing pole strong enough to hold solar light on top. Which is better.. Aluminum or Fiberglass? Once I get a pole I will design / fabricate a mount to fit / hold it..

Aluminum can be a lightning rod so I suggest sticking with fiberglass. We bought our flag kit from Flag Pole Buddy. Decent prices and well made hardware.

If you get the suction cup mount do not place a suction cup on a decal. I wasn't paying attention and used one on a decal and it made a nice circle in the decal....

Harbor freight has a 20 foot pole that telescopes. It came with a PVC pipe that is supposed to go into the ground but I used square u bolts to pinch the PVC pipe to the front of the trailer frame.

This is what I use and It works great. I also cut a circular 1" wood disk that fits in the bottom section and drilled a hole in the center for a 10" spike. Between the PVC on the frame and the disk anchored to the ground I never had an issue.

I got my flagpole from the same place. Also bought the ladder brackets. Easy up, easy down, and has withstood some serious wind over the last couple years.

They also have lighting for the top of the pole if you want to leave American Flag up at night.

Here's a pin box flag pole mount.

On 2003 Cardinal.

Modified for 3 poles currently on 2013 Cedar Creek.

Lit up at night.

Led light clamped on pole.

Camco Flagpole is great. The flagpole can extend up to a staggering 20 feet in the air. When you are ready to go back home, it can collapse to just 64 inches in length. Furthermore, it is quite affordable.

I use the telescoping one from harbor freight. I also use a concrete block to slide the pvc pipe in and angle it in the tongue so that the pole is not straight up in down and flags fly better. The telescoping once are nice so that if a storm comes in just twist it and bring the flags down quickly.
