Florida residency

I have a home in Virginia and a camper at a permanent spot in a Florida campground. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to qualify as a Florida resident in order to not have any state income taxes taken out of my retirement checks?

You need to move to fla and spend more than 1/2 the time in fla. You need a fla drivers license but to get that you will need to show proof of residency (copies of bills sent to your name at a real fla address).

only problem I see is if you claim you live in flordia half the time will you loose primary residence status on your other home? Don't think you can have both.

Wife and I recently went through this and it was a terrible experience. We have a home in Colorado and here in Palm Bay, FL. If you call the State and ask you will get different answers everytime you call.

I suggest that you go online and search on the FL State websites (there are many) for all the documentation that you will need and be prepared for multiple visits to the county clerks office. There are a lot of second home owners in FL and the state wants to know if you're really living here more than six months out of the year or not.

We lived away from Florida for 13 years , only set foot in Florida every two years . We were residents of Florida with drivers license and voting in Florida . No such thing as a 6 month requirement . How do you think military and/or people who work over seas do it . Get a Florida drivers , register to vote and you are a Florida resident . You can also go to county of choice and file a " Proclamation of Domicile ", this also creates residency . You will also have to register autos and trailer in Florida .

Many posts have been deleted, as they are off topic/hijacking to the question of Florida residency only, as well as argumentative, and not helpful to the OP's question.

Any gun talk not pertaining to rv'ing is against the site guidelines and have been removed as such.
