Florida Winter 2016-2017 RV Park Recommendations

Looking for recommendations for a winter stay (3 months) in Florida for the 2016-2017 Winter. Two years ago we stayed in Arcadia, Florida and now looking for a change a little more south. Any info would be appreciated.

How far south? Try Jolly Roger RV Park in Marathon, FL. That's about 58 miles shy of the farthest south you can get without swimming.

Stayed at Sanctuary RV Resort in Bonita Springs in January for several weeks. Very nice resort. Lots to do in the area. Great people run the resort. Many snow birds staying for multiple months. They have a nice heated pool, restaurant in the clubhouse, and activities several days a week.

Rambler's Rest - Venice
Red Coconut - Ft Myers Beach
Myakka River Motor Coach Resort - Port Charlotte
Harbor Lakes RV Resort - Port Charlotte

We've only stayed at Rambler's Rest but have heard good things about the other three. Charlotte County (we live there) is more laid back with less traffic and hubbub. A good jumping off point for artsy stuff in Sarasota, Tampa, Ft Myers, beaches, water stuff, fishing, etc.

We are also looking at Florida site but are dismayed at the prices they want. We usually winter in Texas at Llano Grande Resort and Country Club. When we compare it with Florida, we find that Florida, for the same type of RV resort, is twice as expensive. Is there nothing in Florida that is reasonably priced? We are beginning to believe the old saying that Texans welcome you with open arms and Floridians welcome you with open palms.

John Prince County Park Campground, Lake Worth, Florida. Only downfall is that you can only make a reservation 90 days before first day of arrival. You have to call them on the phone that day, no internet!!!! $840 a month for full hook-ups and you can only stay for 5 months. We have been going there for 8 years, we decided to go early this year, end of Oct. That way we got a really good site - anytime after the middle of November - FORGET ABOUT IT=!!!!!!! they are gone!!!!!

We just returned home from a week's stay at the Red Coconut on the beach side. We were musing over this too, with a couple from Texas,,,,, I guess it's the thought that this is paradise and you're going to pay for it. Wages are typically low here too, seemingly for the same reason. That having been said, we had a great time there. If you're thinking of a Keys stay, you're going to want to book a year ahead of your trip.

Texas is also an option for us. Thanks.

We love Swfl, but yes it is pricey. As for campgrounds, we stayed at Seminole in N Ft. Myers. Very nice place and convient to everything. For Jan Feb and March expect 850ish plus elect.

Just returned home from Florida City for 3 mos. We stayed at Southern Comfort RV Resort. THe cost was 637.00 a month. It's 20 miles north of Key Largo and 20 miles south of Miami. You really need to be below Palm Beach for warm weather, the keys are just out of my reach, they start at 1000.00 per month and I saw one for 3000.00 a month. It's a great price for down there and a very good location to Keys.
