Fort Wilderness at Disney world

We are planning a trip this november to spend our thanksgiving at fort wilderness. Any insight on this campground would be appriciated! I have done a search and read the last thread.

Very nice campground. They have buses they run around all day. But we ended up renting a Golfcart from an off site renter.n he delivered it to our camper. Much cheaper then what disney charges. As far as getting to parts we rode either the bus or boats.

We were there in 2000 and it was our 3rd time camping as new campers. We spent 15 days there with our 2 kids ages 8 and 9 and had a blast. Disney gives out awards for the best camp site and we won two days before we left, you get a certificate with your family name on it and all the ice you can use. Unless things have changed the buses that run between Down Disney and the campground is free.

While you are there take a trip to the Fort Wildness lodge, it is made out of logs it is not far and it is in the campground and they have a great pool.

We went back in 2009, but we didn't stay at Fort Wilderness, my daughter play LaCross at Disney's Wide World of Sports in her first year of College, but we would like to go back now that the kids are older.....21 and 23.

Enjoy yourself, your kids will love it.

By the way we stayed in what they call the "Dog" loop, if you have a dog that is where you will end up and they do have dog setters on site.

If you want a golf cart reserve it ASAP!

My favorite place to stay at Mouseland.

Disney now has cabins at Ft Wilderness and they are very nice for your friends that are not RVers.

If you've not yet made your reservations, do it now. Disney is a spectacular place to be during the Christmas season. Talk about Disney magic -- they transform all of the parks and hotels literally overnight! But it's also the most popular time to be there, and reservations are hard to come by.

Cindy and I took our son and daughter-in-law there for New Year's Eve about six years ago. The Magic Kingdom closed at 9:30 a.m. because it was at capacity, and Epcot closed at 11:00 a.m. We weren't able to get into FW on that trip, but have since stayed there and absolutely loved it.

Another tip. Many of the Florida rest stops allow you to overnight in their for free. You are suppose to keep everything hooked up between TV and TT (in other words don't drop off you TT and then go shopping). Rule of thumb is if the rest stop has 24 security it is allowed.

Its not as nice as staying in some of RV parks, but its great if you just need a place to crash.

Any special deals going on for campers? They frequently offer package deals for people staying in their hotels....Ticket packages? etc....

loved it

we have stayed there twice. The first time was for one week in a popup. The second stay was in our TT. We had an absolutely fantastic time during both stays.

Don't miss the evening campfire with Chip and Dale. Also, unless you want to go off Disney property, there is no reason to drive anywhere. The shuttle, buss, monorail, and boat system worked great for us.

I hope you have as much fun as we did.
