Free standing dinette vs booth

I do love the storage area from a booth, but it's kinda hard to move those seats for it.

we got a u shaped booth - sucks.
the table slips into the mounts on the floor - never completely solid or level. forget getting an adult in the back part of the booth. and i also end up with back pain sitting there for a few hours (rainy days, playing games, etc).
As for storage, the back part is too hard to access - maybe if we were FT we'd have need for it for something. The sides we keep a case of water in one and spare paper products in the other - could keep them other places if need be.

I have cats too but they stay home and guard the house when we are gone.

On the original note; our Vlite has limited outside storage but has a nice amount of inside storage. So we use the under bench compartments for seldom(but may use at some time) items. I have a bad back and yes the bench cushions are not the most comfortable but I'm only there for a short time. When our grown son takes a trip with us, we put a memory foam topper on it to make the dinette a little more tolerable.

When we have visitors, we have taken the table top off and laid it on the bed so people can sit more comfortably in the surround booth.

We don't like the u shaped dinette, very uncomfortable, hard to get to the back seat no matter your size, and takes up too much space, would prefer a booth and with the extra space put in a storage cabinet.

We prefer the table and chairs, it's just the two of us normally so we just use a couple chairs. If we have company we raise the table leaf and grab the other chairs from the storage under the bed. This gives us wider space between the kitchen island and table.

Always thought I would never want a dinette, till we got one....this new trailer has it, and we love it. Much more comfortable, but as many others have said, it's just the two of us now, so that makes it easier. The booths make for a horrible bed, and if it is just the two of you, the booth is too crowded.

We have the booth in our rear kitchen flagstaff. We don't think our dogs would like it very much if we had the dinette. They both use the booth seats to watch what goes on outside and to sleep during the day.

our camper came with a booth after using it that way for the last 7 years we talked about taking out the booth and getting a table and 2cairs the thing that kept us from doing it was all the storage we would lose well the wife found a great table and we had the chairs so we started tearing things apart and found that the stuff in there wasn't nessary to have anymore so out it came and it looks so great we should have done it a long time ago

We have had both. We prefer the booth mostly because of the useful storage space under the benches and did not like the free standing table because for travelling it and the chairs had to be tied down some way to keep them in place. That was a pain.

We looked several floor plans "in person" at the dealers and sat in a booth in a Rockwood 8280SS, exactly like the one we were about to order. Our knees touched (banged together) under the booth table, so the table and chairs option was obvious for us. As there just the two of us, we leave 2 chairs at home.

In the empty space where the chairs were we keep coolers, a heater, and any number of other things so it's not like you are totally loosing storage space. That space can still be used.

And while we were checking out the floor plan we test fit the bed, shower/tub, potty room, counter heights, just to make sure everything else "fit".

We love the dinette! It's like eating in an old 50's diner and the extra bed is great for the grandchildren. (We have four grandchildren.)

We, also, love playing games and the dinette is perfect.

We have the table and 4 chairs. I am rotating the table to get more pass thru room by the kitchen counter and will probably remove 2 of the chairs. It is just the 2 of us now.

Had both. Dinette in tt. appreciated the storage space. In our 2 fifth wheels we got table and chairs. Plenty of other storage. Its a personal thing for each. We like bring able to pull chairs and table out away from the walls for games and meals. More space.

Just to clear the muddy waters here....In re-reading the last few pages of posts...when people refer to booth I think they mean the booth or Ushaped booth that can fold down to a bed...the dinette and chairs is more like the OP stated...Free standing dinette and chairs...

We took out the table and chairs and put in a storage cabinet. This allowed us to put in a very comfortable long leather sofa which someone can comfortably sleep on. We have a 4' x 2' foot adjustable table which we keep under the sofa. because it is adjustable the legs are short enough to eat on while sitting on the sofa and one recliner. Very easy for 4 people to eat there. Leaves room to get things from the kitchen. When needed there are 4 folding chairs in the basement. When it is just the two of us we have 2 tray tables to eat on and put our laptops on.

Me and the DW prefer the table and chairs, makes it feel more homely.

The older and stiffer we get, the more we SHUN booth seating in any setting including restaurants and RV trailers. I'd rather get into and out of straight chairs. We don't miss the storage under a booth and we love the reconfigurability (failed spell check) of movable table and chairs. Our new Wildcat trailer has two standard straight-back dining chairs (which the two of us use regularly) and two matching folding chairs which are upholstered the same and have the same wood finish. These two folding dining chairs live under our bed until we need them for company. We have moved our dining table into the large space in front of our fireplace, extended the table, brought the folding chairs in from under the bed, used the long rear couch and seated 6 adults comfortably for a meal.

Booth seating is an absolute show stopper for us on any future rig. We have a free standing in our 5'r and we LOVE it. Given that any rig we buy from this point will be large enough to have ample storage the loss of extra space in the booth is not a concern for us.
